Jane shuddered and slowly straightened her body.
Alice Garcia turned around and walked out of the office with a pale face. "What a slut, what a slut, what a slut. She divorced John and still had the audacity to get pregnant with his child?"
While she was still fuming, her phone rang. It was Carl Edwards. She answered and heard his voice saying, "I'm in your lounge."
Without waiting, Alice Garcia pushed open the door and walked in.
Carl Edwards noticed her troubled face and asked, "What's wrong?"
Alice Garcia suppressed her anger, "Did you silence Grace Hayes' mouth?"
Carl Edwards nodded, "It's taken care of."
Alice Garcia breathed a sigh of relief but then became angry again, "John hasn't taken any other actions, has he?"
Carl Edwards shook his head, "Not that I know of." But he wasn't entirely sure. With John's capabilities, even if he did something behind their backs and didn't want them to find out, they wouldn't be able to know.
Alice Garcia was very disappointed that their plan had failed.
"I read online news that you attributed Jane's musical achievements to Sarah Ford. That was a clever move, and I bet it saved her a lot of trouble, considering her physical condition."
Carl Edwards had a relaxed smile on his face, as if he were listening to a joke from a stranger.
Alice Garcia was not as optimistic. "Do you know that Jane has been promoted to vice president of the company?"
Carl Edwards was shocked, gaping in surprise. "How could that happen?"
Alice Garcia sounded very resentful. "It's not your fault for not knowing. She just took office a few days ago."
She exaggerated the story of Jane sleeping with Mr. Green to get promoted to vice president to Carl Edwards. After he heard it, he was even more shocked. He had met Jane when she was just 18 years old, young and beautiful with a timeless and clear temperament that made people feel like they were desecrating her just by reaching out to touch her.
Although he was older than her and more mature and worldly-wise, in his heart, he vaguely looked up to her like a clear spring.
Now, he was suddenly told that she had fallen so low, and his heart was filled with mixed feelings. "She finally couldn't take it anymore."
Alice Garcia narrowed her eyes. "You're not sympathizing with her, are you?"
Carl Edwards came back to his senses and shook his head with a wry smile. "How could I? It's just that I'm a little emotional about it. After all, she used to be very proud."
Alice Garcia snorted coldly. "What's the use of being proud? In the end, she still had to bow down to reality."
Carl Edwards chuckled in agreement. "How are things progressing with you and John?"
He knew that Alice Garcia always had clear goals and ambitions.
When John was mentioned, Alice Garcia couldn't help but feel jealous and resentful. This man was already hard to deal with, and there was also Jane causing trouble in the middle.
Although he had divorced Jane, his attitude towards her was still a mystery.
Sometimes he could be cruel to her, but other times he seemed jealous... like when he went crazy after finding out Jane slept with Mr. Green. It was a frightening sight, but at the same time, she couldn't help but feel that it was very manly.
Jane can easily stir his emotions, but when he's with Alice, he's cold, cold, cold the whole time!
Jane, Jane!
Thinking of this, she fixed her gaze on Carl Edwards and lowered her voice to ask, "I heard she hasn't been coughing much lately. Could it be that her illness... is getting better?"
Carl Edwards was stunned.
Alice Garcia leaned closer to him, her hands on his shoulders and her chest almost pressed against his face. "Your medicine, make it stronger. It would be best if she gets severely poisoned and can never speak again, completely finished."
Carl Edwards shook his head. "Before, she was almost in the recording studio every day, making it convenient for me to drug her. But now she doesn't go to the studio anymore, and she definitely doesn't trust me. So where would I get the chance?"
Alice Garcia frowned and gritted her teeth. "Then give me the medicine. I'll take it home and find an opportunity myself."
