But she didn't stop, just kept singing and singing. The song gave her courage to fight against the darkness and resist the fear.
Downstairs in the living room, Kevin and Mark Cooper had arrived.
When Brian received John's notification to investigate a military officer named Simon Kang, he informed the two of them.
In Brian's understanding, whenever their boss spoke in a cold tone about investigating a man's information, he guessed that the man must be related to Miss Jane. And whenever something involved Miss Jane, their wise and powerful boss would likely lose control. So he secretly told Kevin and Mark Cooper, and they immediately followed him to Lavender Manor.
Kevin always acted carefree and watched the show wherever he went. When he saw John's cold face, he deliberately asked, "Did you really find the adulterer?"
John remained silent with a dark expression.
Mark Cooper frowned disapprovingly at Kevin. "Brother John, it's been several months since the divorce. What does Jane have to do with you anymore? Can't we let this matter go?"
He had advised him more than once, but...
"It's not possible." John was firm in his decision.
After a moment of silence, Mark Cooper looked at Brian, who was on the phone, and asked eagerly, "Any news?"
Brian shook his head and glanced at John. "They said he's a married military officer, but didn't say which military district he's in. It's not easy to investigate someone with that kind of status."
And it wasn't something they could just find out by investigating.
"Tsk." Kevin exaggeratedly sighed. "No wonder Garcia wouldn't say a word. Turns out he's ruining a military marriage and has such a high status. We won't be able to find out anything for a while. Let's have a drink to calm our nerves."
He walked over to the liquor cabinet as if he owned the place, grabbed three glasses and a bottle of whiskey, and returned to the coffee table.
Mark Cooper was a doctor, indifferent to smoking and drinking, but Kevin and John not only drank but also smoked, filling the living room with smoke in no time.
He stared impatiently at the beautiful and complex crystal chandelier hanging overhead. "When will Jane's bullshit have nothing to do with you?"
He was asking John, but John was drinking and smoking as if he hadn't heard him.
In just over three hours, Mark Cooper woke up to find that Kevin and John had drunk two bottles of liquor. Whether it was the alcohol or the anger that made John's face turn white, he was sitting on the sofa, tilting his head back elegantly, smoking in one hand.
Meanwhile, Kevin was watching short videos on his phone.
As the sun gradually set outside the window and it was almost evening, Kevin rubbed his eyes and became a little impatient. "What's the name of this officer?"
Brian, who had been tense the whole time, immediately answered, "Simon Kang."
It had been nearly six hours, and they had used a lot of connections and a huge amount of money to investigate this Simon Kang. According to logic, if there was such a person in the organization, they would be able to find information about him quickly through the electronic system, but so far there was no information at all.
As the big boss's expression became increasingly grim, Brian became more and more nervous. It felt like being at the scene of catching an affair, on the brink of discovering the truth with one foot at the door, but still feeling anxious.
Kevin frowned. "Simon Kang? Why does that name sound so familiar?"
Everyone present straightened their backs and stared at Kevin.
Kevin scratched his head, tilted his head for a moment, and then picked up his phone and fiddled with it vigorously. Finally, he slapped his thigh. "I remember now, no wonder that name sounds so familiar..."
