She stumbled and almost fell. She glared at Mrs. Land and said, "You went through so much trouble to take jill away, just to lure my son? You have to bear the consequences of your own dirty deeds."
Jane was stunned for a moment, then burst into a light laughter. However, her laughter was not pleasant to hear. She opened her mouth and spoke with a hoarse and unpleasant voice, but her slow tone revealed every nuance, "My daughter as a bait for a scumbag like John? Is he really worth it?"
Mrs. Land became even angrier and pointed at Jane, "You have no idea what you're talking about! Look at yourself in the mirror! Do you even deserve my son?"
Jane chuckled, "I don't deserve him, which is why we got divorced. You can go find someone who does, like Vivian West. But don't act up in front of me anymore."
Mrs. Land was stunned by Jane's tough attitude. She remembered that Jane used to be very obedient and respectful to her as a daughter-in-law. But now, things had changed.
Jane noticed Mrs. Land's surprise and explained, "Before, I loved John and respected you as a mother-in-law. But now that I have nothing to do with him, I don't have to tolerate your insults and abuse anymore."
She still remembered the last time in the hospital when Mrs. Land slapped her in the face and forced her to kneel down, regardless of the occasion and the reason.
She's not a forgetful person.
Whoever humiliated her, whoever bullied her, she remembered it all!
"A woman who cheats on her husband and wears the green hat has no right to argue here. Women like you who have no shame should be condemned by everyone." Mrs. Land's face turned white with anger. She did not expect Jane to have the audacity to say such outrageous things in front of her.
She hoped Jane would not bother her son, but she did not want Jane to belittle her son, especially when it was Mrs. Land who cheated on him and caused him to wear the green hat, yet she acted as if she was the wronged party.
Jane raised her eyebrows and kept circling back to the issue of Mrs. Land's infidelity.
She just chuckled.
"You keep saying you have nothing to do with my young master, but why did he use all his connections to find an expert to detoxify you?" Land butler couldn't stand it anymore and stepped forward, staring at Jane with disdain as if she were some dirty thing.
Jane was stung by his gaze and spoke without thinking, "I didn't ask him to do it, he did it on his own. If you have any questions, ask him."
"Didn't you ask him? Who would believe that?" Land butler sneered.
"Maybe your young master still has feelings for me, or maybe he's being foolish. Don't you ask him?" Jane couldn't help but get angry.
Upon hearing this, both Land butler and Mrs. Land turned their gaze to someone behind Jane.
She felt a solid gaze staring at her from behind without having to look, it was John.
She pursed her lips and stared at Land butler. He deliberately asked this question just to drag her into the gutter and let John hear these words.
In her ear, there was the sound of steady and powerful footsteps.
Each step felt like it was treading on the tip of her heart, as John's tall figure stood beside her, and his deep and mellow voice slowly rang out, "Don't misunderstand, I saved you because I think it's too cheap for you to die in someone else's hands."
