Chapter Thirty One. The Uncanny Spirit

Hugh didn't seem to be paying attention while the lessons were ongoing. His attention was solely focused on Selena, since the past few weeks he noticed she had been acting really differently. At first she cut her hair, which was something he'd admired so much about her appearance. Then she stopped talking to him entirely, it was almost as if he never existed in her world anymore.

This was something he had always wanted. After all he was nothing but bad luck, for everything he touched surely dies. Yet part of him still wished she had not forgotten him completely. His illicit relationship with Miss Evelyn was growing much stronger, and he let it go on, for he had long grown fond of abuse.

The bell rang for dismissal, and he jolted back to reality when he realized that the class was nearly empty. He gently picked up his bag and quietly started to walk out.

"Mr Trail." Mr Crawford whom had been seating quietly on his desk called him.

He reluctantly turned to respond to the much older teacher.

"You lackadaisical attitude is gettin' worse and if your don't start takin' your academics serious. I'll be forced to give you an F" The old man lamented angrily.

He causally stuck his hands into his pockets as the old teacher continued to rant and blab. He used to do well in his academics, but after being exposed to the paranormal activities, it became very hard for him to concentrate.

"I'll do better sir" He casually said.

"You better. Cos I wouldn't hesitate to give you an F next time." Snapped the old man before waving and gesturing for him to leave.

"Now quickly be gone"

He quietly turned away and causally walked excited the classroom.

Meanwhile Billy and Eric were busy in the old secret lair, planning on how they'd lure out the infamous Dark Entity. Eric's hands were busy dancing on a holographic computer, he was really good with them. No matter it's model, it was something he learnt from his father.

Tracking the Dark Entity was nearly, if not an impossible task. Fortunately he did not only acquire knowledge about computers, he also had experience in things relating with the supernatural.

"There it is!" He suddenly jumped out from his chair while shouting excitedly.

"Wow wow what is it?" Billy asked confusedly.

He kept grinning like a lunatic, but after a few moments of merriment he finally opened up.

"I finally found it bro. The manual to which we can use to conjure the ghost of Murdoch."

Billy looked at his friend confusedly, then he sarcastically asked. "Okay so even if you do manage to summon this Murdoch ghost. How exactly is it gonna help us find the Dark Entity, and what guarantee do we have that it won't try to possess us?"

"It won't, Murdoch is a friendly and cunning ghost, once it fulfils it's purpose it'll return back to the underworld. Plus I did warn, this was a bad idea."

Billy didn't have the strength to further their argument so he submissively agreed. "Let's hope your right then."

So Eric hurriedly brought out an old spooky box and emptied its contents on the floor.

The materials were a pack of red candles, incense, salt and a little dagger. He started performing the summoning ritual by using the salt to draw a large circular symbol and surrounding it with the red candles. As he lit the incenses and the candles before picking up the little knife and gradually lowered it to his palm. He glanced at Billy as if he was waiting for a go ahead signal.

Billy gulped down hard and shook his head in an affirmative sign. He slowly cut his palm with the knife, and lowered his bleeding hand, as he sprinkled his blood around the ritual site while chanting the strange words that he'd seen in the computer.

"Phasmatis radix quod caus.

Commodo adeo suffragium

Mihi in meus negotium.

Gratias ago vos Cerberus,

pro tabellae silentio."

Just suddenly the lights started to flicker and sparks of fire, burst out from their machines.

A strong green wind slowly generated from within the circular symbol. The wind was so violent that the force pushed Billy farther away. Strangely it didn't seem to affect him, rather it slowly lifted him up from his feet and soon he was floating in the air.

A strange female humanoid figured emanated from the greenish wind. It opened it's mouth to speak but all that came out was a deafening sound that caused him to shriek back in pain and fear. The feminine ghost suddenly plunged into he's body and caused a green ripple of wave. While Billy struggled to withstand the force as he called out for his friend. He shouted so hard that his lungs threatened to explode.

"Eric!!...no ooo!!"

But sadly his friend was long gone. Eric's eyes were glowing greenish lights. He was still floating in the air as he gently turned to face him. A loud powerful female voice echoed from his mouth as he said.

"Eric is gone now. There's only Yurei-onna."

He gritted his teeth in anger as he gradually stood up despite the strong force wave that the ghost was emitting, he roared angrily,

"Release my friend this instance!."

"Hahahahaha!!." The possessed Eric laughed so hard that the lair threatened to crumble.

He's burrows furrowed as he clenched his fists and surprisingly ran towards the ghost while roaring angrily. She causally stretched her hand towards the the little raging boy and blasted out a huge green beam that ignited from her hand. He reacted quickly by leaping away from the huge greenish beam that could almost burnt him to smithery. A set of cybernetic wings swifty emerged from his back while he was still in mid air as he tactically thrust himself towards her.

She frowned angrily and started releasing multiple green blasts from her hand hoping to eliminate him from the surface of the earth.

But instead she grew more impatient when she noticed he was dodging and evading all her attacks. She shouted in frustration and caused a powerful ripple of greenish wave to explode and shattered virtually everything in the lair.

The waves pushed him so hard that he crashed through the walls, stumbled out of lair and landed forcefully by the road side.

He couldn't balance himself as the force continued rolling him violently like a moss ball. Eventually his coaster ride was abruptly stopped when he wrecked into another house. The ghost gradually flew out from the large crack hole that he had unintentionally created.

He sprawled on the floor of the house, his ankle was sprained and his body was covered in bruises. This was why he had tried creating a nano tech suit in case of emergencies, sadly he was only able to create the nanotech cybernetic wings. It hadn't been tested until now and surprisingly it worked really well.

The ghost floated majestically towards him and stretched her hand to him. As a sparkling green beam emanated from her hand and shot straight towards him. He tried to react defensively to the attack, but couldn't find the strength. Slowly and weakly, he managed to press a button on his damaged wrist watch and slowly his cybernetic wings reappeared and shielded him from the deadly beam.

The beam was so powerful that it almost burst through his shield. He could hear the screaming of the owners of the house, it didn't surprise him how they didn't respond to the first attack on their building. His street was known for avoiding trouble and minding their business. Fortunately the seemingly unending beam finally toned down. As he's cybernetic wings gradually retracted into his back, he was certain they were damaged for good.

He quickly looked to know if his possessed buddy was still trying to launch another attack, but instead he was surprised when he saw his friend lying unconsciously on the floor. He struggled to stand but couldn't, so he limped to his unconscious friend. Fortunately the owner of the house had passed out from shock, and their neighbors had made sure to close their doors. So he was certain no one had witnessed the drama. He reached for his wrist and checked his pulse to know if he was okay.

"Am fine doc." Eric said jokingly.

He's eyes glistened in excitement and huge relief as he hugged his friend happily before asking him, "What happened dude?, how did you manage to repel it?."

"I wish I did. She left me as soon as she found out I wasn't such a great host." He muttered weakly.

Billy prayed so hard in his mind hoping it was all over as he anxiously asked, "Great so it's over?."

Eric coughed weakly and then looked into the sky as if looking at the ghost before saying,

"Oh it's far from being over Billy, the ghost will attempt to complete the task for which it was summoned. But only in a much more violent manner."

"What!?. We can't let that happen!"

"You need to find the Dark Entity. He's the only one who can stop her."

He shook his head in frustration as he looked around the vicinity and then to his lair. "Great, guess we're back to square one, Worst of all my lair has been burnt to crumbs."

He looked at Eric once more and noticed he was snoring in his arms. He dropped him to the floor and stood up to look into the sky.

Whoever or whatever this monster was, it didn't matter if it was killable or not. He was gonna make sure to stop it. And he was gonna do so with or without the help of the Dark Entity.
