Annie
"What's wrong? You aren't eating your eggs," James asked me when I kept playing with my food.
"Hmm? Nothing. I guess I'm not very hungry I said. I kept picturing Evan's face in my mind. He almost looked like he was in pain. He barely looked at me and rushed out of the house.
"Have you seen Evan? I thought he wanted to go to the beach with us," James asked.
"I saw him this morning and he said he had to go out and get some fresh air," I replied, feeling a pang of guilt in my chest. I had a feeling Evan didn't like me seeing James. It must have been tough for him. His trying to act cool was just a facade.
"Maybe he changed his mind about coming," James shrugged, not seeming to think much of it.
I couldn't help but wonder if Evan was okay. I knew I had hurt him, and it made me feel terrible. But at the same time, I couldn't deny my feelings for James. I loved him, and I wanted to be with him.
