  After talking to Amy, I felt better, but it still took me a while to get out of my own head.

  But after I calmed down, I called Annie. I didn't want her to think I was angry at her. It was never my intention to make her feel bad.

  So for the next few days, I acted like everything was fine and I didn't care about her being with James.

  I went to the library where Annie worked and spotted her sitting at a table with a pile of books scattered in front of her.

  "What are you up to, little hamster?" I grinned as she looked up.

  "Really, with that stupid nickname Evan?" Annie groaned.

  "Oh, you want me to stop calling you that?" I raised an eyebrow.

  Annie smiled. "No. Things won't be the same if you stop. I'd think something is wrong with you."

  I chuckled, pleased that my nickname for her had become something special between us. "Well, great because I wasn't planning on stopping," I said. "What's all this?"
