To forever!

I felt my blood boiling over. I was so angry, but once again, I was feeling too guilty and sorry to show my true feelings. My guilt was crippling me so much. It was keeping me from doing all the things I really wanted to do, and showing this smug tormentor of mine, just how sharp my words could be when there was nothing holding me back. But now, there was something holding me back, and that was the fact that I had almost caused his nephews death. For this reason, there was really nothing I could do. So I pulled myself away from Jordan and rose to my feet.

"Why are you even here? Aren't you supposed to be getting ready for your big day tomorrow or something? Or does all the noise end at my house?" I asked. Jordan grinned up at me.

"I came by because I missed you." He winked. "I couldn't wait again until tomorrow to see your pretty face, so I ran down here as soon as I could." He drawled. I glared at him, and he blew a kiss at me.

"How did you find me here? I needed some space from everything, that's why I took a walk. Isn't it obvious no one was supposed to come find me?" I said.

"Well, I called your house, asking for you. Your parents told me you were out, getting some air in the park. And when I called, you had already been out for over an hour. I guessed that the pressure of the wedding preparations was getting to you, so I popped in to check on my bride to be, since I was around the area at that time." He said, shrugging with a smug smile on his face, and I wanted to slap it away.

"Well, for one, I'm not pressured by anything, since I'm literally adding nothing to the preparations for your big day. Trust me, you hired capable hands for that already. And two, you could have just sent one of those hands to check on me for you, you didn't have to come all the way over here yourself. I'm sure your dogs would gladly wag their tails to the errand. As a matter of fact, one of them tailed me all the way here to make sure that I wasn't running away. I can assure you that your investment here is perfectly secured." I said to him.

Jordan threw his head back and laughed dangerously, and although I found him annoying in that moment, there was something about the way his head was thrown back, with his black hair falling away from his face and revealing the flawless skin of his face and crown, the way his smile dimples deepened and the lines around his eyes became vivid, the way his hair bounced and the reflection of the evening sun on the skin of his neck and chest that were revealed through his shirt that was buttoned halfway. There was something about the picture that tugged at a string in my heart and caused a tickling sensation in the pit of my stomach, in my palms and under my feet.

He sat up right and then looked straight into my eyes.

"This is not about securing my 'investment here, darling. Like I said, I really missed you and I wanted to see you. That's why I came." He said, then with a suggestive look, he added. "Or, aren't you glad I came?"

I immediately knew that he was referring to what had happened between the two of us earlier. I quickly looked away.

"I'm heading back to the house." I announced, and began to walk.

"Good idea." He said, as he rose up from the bench and followed me. "I was hoping to check on the progress of the preparations." He said, sounding very close behind me.

I doubled up my pace in hopes to maintain some distance between us. I didn't want the two of us to appear to passerbys as a perfect picture of two lovers leaving the park after a casual walk in the park on a sunny day. But every time I looked over my shoulder, Jordan was right behind me. I gave up when I saw that my small legs could not outrun his really long legs. In a moment, he was walking right beside me. I gnashed my teeth as I kept walking, trying my best to completely ignore him.

When we got to the house, my parents were waiting to welcome him by the door, with big smiles on their faces. I groaned inwardly as I walked past them, and as Jordan hung back to talk to them in polite tones, I headed straight to my room where I slammed the door behind me.

I was lying on my bed, flipping aimlessly through the pages of an outdated magazine, when I heard my door creak open. I looked up to find Jordan standing in the doorway. He grinned at me, but I looked away and went back to flipping through my magazine. He came in and closed the door behind him.

"You know, you don't have to talk to them nicely. No need to pretend they are your in-laws or something. They are more like employees, you should treat them like that. I bet they wouldn't mind." I said. Jordan laughed as he came to stand over me.

"What are you reading?" He asked.

"None of your business." I fired at him, still not looking up from my magazine. He grabbed the magazine from my hand, and I reached up to fight for it, but he held me away easily at an arms length, as he scanned the magazine.

"This is outdated. You shouldn't be reading this. You should be resting. I don't want you bulgy eyed tomorrow." He said, looking down at me.

"Give me back my magazine! I don't care what I look like tomorrow!" I screamed, glaring up at him.

Jordan just stared at me without saying anything for a moment, then a wicked grin curled up his lips.

"Your lips look kissable when you pout." He said suddenly, as his eyes fell to my lips.

I was immediately flustered and disconcerted. I felt my face burning up, and I quickly looked away, pulling away from his hold. I sank back into my bed, but Jordan was not about to let me be. He leaned in closer, bringing his face closer to mine.

"Is that a blush I see?" He grinned.

"Stay away from me." I muttered. Jordan chuckled, then he leaned in even closer.

"We started something in the park. Do you want to see how that ends? Maybe you could tell me all about your dream." He whispered, then with a drawl, very close to my ear, he added. "Or, you could show me."

My breath caught in my chest, and my face burned even more. He was too close, the proximity was driving me wild. Even though I hated to admit it, Jordan smelt so good. Must have been his cologne or after shave, or just his maleness. Something about the way he smelled just had my hormones running wild. I desperately prayed that he would move away, because I had honestly lost every will to push him away myself.

All these things and thoughts were going on inside my head, but outside, I wore a cool facade, maintaining a glare even though I was blushing so painfully.

Jordan smiled again, then just when I thought he would cover the last bit of space between us, he leaned away abruptly.

"Another time." He said, tucking his hands in the pocket of his pants. "After all, we are getting married tomorrow. Then, we'll have forever to finish business." He smirked, then he turned around and began to walk away, but paused at the door. He looked back at me. "Rest up, really. You look pale and sickly." He said, then he walked away.
