One of Them

The Industrial District spanned 100 acres of land, nearly sixty-two blocks. The commercial enterprises that filled this area ranged from lumber production to waste management. The biggest business in the area were the metal fabrication factories. The factory itself had been closed for about five years. It was found that the company that owned the plant had been dumping hazardous waste into the river. It seeped into the groundwater near the Residential District filling the water and soil with carcinogenic substances that killed wildlife and affected the human residents. The event was almost never reported on locally or otherwise. It had been quick to clean and the company went bankrupt from lawsuits levied against them.
