Just Before

Back in Redwood City the quarantine turned into a lockdown in under five hours. It had begun on the night before the storm. The chief of police had gotten a strange call earlier that morning. The man would even say it was haunting. He was a superstitious sort.

Rayner sat in his office, working on his recent case concerning a man who was committing harmful acts to animals and was caught with several dogs caged on his property. His phone rings. Picking up he pinched the phone between his shoulder and ear as he went through the folders.

"Rayner Olsen." He answered simply.

[Don't make the same mistake they did ten years ago. The floods washed the sickness back in. Stop them before it's too late. Don't let them down!]

The line went dead.

Rayner was unsettled by the call and sent some men up to check out the river.
