Chapter 48

"Mo Huijun, you are earning yourself no favour." Ming Yongnian who was calm and cold spat out.

Mo Huijun did not retract his killing intent. "Don't worry, I will not harm my own daughter."

Kajian lifted a brow. "Is that what you think? You are already hurting her."

"Shall I remind you of the contract?" Feng Delun further added pressure to the Devil Venerable.

Mo Huijun shook his head and sighed as if they were the ones doing something wrong. "You Dao Immortal. How protective of you." He met Ming Yongnian's stare equally. "She is the child of this Devil Venerable as much as -- loathe as I admit it -- the daughter of an Immortal, you. What would you think the Celestial gods will do once they discover such a specimen."

The ropes binding the baby unfurled, dropping to the floor lifelessly. Sustained by the Devil Venerable's spiritual energy the baby floated mid air. Innocently the baby waved her hands and smiled.

Kaijun returned the baby's smile despite the situation. Ming Yongnian's tense muscles relaxed by an inch.

"This is this Lord's way of education." Mo Huijun's piercing gaze landed on Feng Delun. "That binding contract of yours is indeed fair."

The contract Feng Delun had drawn clearly states that both Ming Yongnian and Mo Huijun were not allowed to harm or cause distress to the baby. The contract itself has a sense of sentience and was connected to the baby. To what the baby may feel, if the baby felt that she was distressed or harmed in any way it would immediately restrain either Ming Yongnian or Mo Huijun. The one who was responsible for the child's distress.

While the child was hanged upside down for the entire five hours the contract did not react and bind Mo Huijun. That would mean that the baby herself did not feel distressed or harmed in any way.

Feng Delun recalled that Kaijun had clearly heard that the child felt uncomfortable. So why did the contract not trigger and Mo Huijun escaped unscathed?

The problem would lie with eldest brother's child herself. He'll note this disparity for the future. Perhaps it had something to do with the child's past life.

Mo Huijun smirked, and placed himself above all. "This child could discern between right and wrong unlike some of you blind--"

"..." Everyone blinked once, then twice.

Warm white substance, that cooled down immediately, trickled down Mo Huijun's face. The smell was sour and acidic. The baby had vomited on top of Mo Huijun's head.

A tiny laughter escaped out of Kaijun, Luo Huifang was the one who started to fully laugh. One moment the Devil Venerable was smug the next his own child gave him a stinky present. To add into the comedy Mo Huijun was too stunned to make an expression.

More like the Devil Venerable was not certain which way his eyes, brows, and lips should go. He was partially to blame for lowering his guard against his own daughter. Ignoring that she was slowly flying higher and closer to his head. Adding salt into the wound, it was his spiritual energy that kept the baby floating in the air.

Ming Yongnian silently gave his daughter a praise through their telepathic link. Silently pulling the still floating baby towards him, tucking the child back into his robes. A bottle appeared out of thin air. Moving naturally, Ming Yongnian gave the bottle to the baby to drink.

Before taking the bottle tip into her mouth the baby did not forget to stick her tiny tongue out at her other father. Smugly, she snuggled into her papa's robes and drank her milk comfortably.

It took Mo Huijun's brain another minute to process what had happened. Where am I? What am I? What did I do? Fleeted across the Devil Venerable's mind in lightning speed. When he reached his brain reached a conclusion to the events that had transpired, Mo Huijun laughed out loud.

The Devil Venerable calmed down and said, "This little child… this Lord will have to give you an award." But it seemed that the Devil Venerable had a terrible mood swing and his personality changed like the wind. "I'll have you hung by the tree." The man was smiling then he was not. The baby's spew had disappeared from the Devil Venerable's head along with the smell.

The baby's way of reciprocating her other father's threat was by fully covering herself with her papa's robes, all the while she gave her most annoying expression to the man. The only thing that could be seen was the baby's lick of hair.

Kaijun finally laughed out loud. Just now his niece was making the same idiotic and flat face as Ming Yongnian's, when the Golden Crowned Lord was about to piss someone off.

Jiang Xiaotong grumbled. "Great, we're getting another 'eldest brother' like person." He was a veteran being on the receiving end of Ming Yongnian's punchable face. The situation always ended up with "I really want to hit you but I can't" scenario.

Jie Qiqiang sent an exasperated look towards Jiang Xiaotong. "She's eldest brother's child, what do you expect?" If Jiang Xiaotong was Ming Yongnian's number one victim, Jie Qiqiang was the third victim. For the second victim Lan Jianhong had taken that title.

Seeing that the situation was somewhat resolved, Li Jiayi returned to work on the contract. Making sure that he always had Ming Yongnian between himself and Mo Huijun.

Guessing that Feng Delun had made the contract between eldest brother and Mo Huijun sentient. Li Jiayi made sure that this contract with Tian Mengshen and their Sect was not.

The rest of them followed Li Jiayi's example. Luo Huifang decided to take Tian Mengshen out of the house for the time being.

Although Mo Huijun and Ming Yongnian had stopped their little "poking games". The two men were still locked in a game of drilling holes into each other by staring.

Meanwhile on Wu Jinjing's end, she had safely arrived within her parents home.

Her parents were spiritual plants. Or one could say that they have become a Demon plant. Since they have gained their sentience. It took them thousands of years to gain consciousness and sobriety. Even this was with the help of the environment they were living in. A secret realm left by a now ascended Immortal.

Wu Jinjing walks towards the deepest parts of the secret realm. Her journey undeterred, undisturbed by any of the beasts and demons that may dwell within the realm.

If it was anyone else these plants and beasts in this realm would not hesitate to give them a warm welcome. Instead for Wu Jinjing these plants and beasts made way for Wu Jinjing.

She was no stranger to these secret realm's denizens. At one time this woman was but a child running around and exploring their realm. She was the little flower they had collectively raised.

In greeting to their consideration, Wu Jinjing smiled. Her presence was always welcome here.

The deeper into the secret realm Wu Jinjing went, the clearer was her view of a large tree with yellow leaves. This tree was sitting upright in the middle of the secret realm.

Wu Jinjing's steps hastens. As she stood beneath the large canopy of the yellow tree she heard the familiar wood creaking. Suddenly all of the tree's leaves flew off its branch, spinning around Wu Jinjing in a whirlwind. Like a dance of birds in the afternoon sky. This though, was made by a tree.

The leaves around her gradually grew thinner and thinner. Through the flurry of leaves Wu Jinjing could see that the leaves were converging into one with the tree branch. In the beginning the shape the tree was taking was like a poorly made clay sculpture. As more leaves joined with the tree branch the sculpture turned sharper and well defined.

Standing proud before Wu Jinjing was a tall woman. Long hair with streaks of yellow, held into a ponytail. There were yellow leaves falling like a waterfall at the edge of the woman's long robe sleeves. Before the leaves could touch the ground it would disappear. Like a beautiful illusion.

"Jinjing welcome home." The woman's voice was deep and gave the sense of warmth when one heard her.

Wu Jinjing walked towards the woman. Her feet were moving faster than its usual pace. Wu Jinjing only reached the woman's shoulders, so she had to tilt her head back to greet the woman before her. Lips curved upwards, Wu Jinjing greeted, "I'm home." This was Wu Jinjing's true smile. Unlike the ones she gave carelessly to others. It made the healer look younger. Like a flower seeking the sunlight tilting its head to receive its warmth.

The woman spoke, "I was not expecting you to return so soon after your departure."

After Wu Jinjing cut ties with her previous Sect she came to visit the woman first before joining with her sworn siblings. "I was also not expecting to return so soon."
