Chapter 50

Deadpanning Li Jiayi spoke in a flat tone, "Knowing how the rest of our siblings operate I do not doubt my judgement."

Li Jiayi knows that his sworn siblings will rub off their troublesome habits to their disciples. One of the habits the rest of his siblings have was to offend people left and right without lifting a single finger. Li Jiayi believed that his siblings had the karmic power to invite trouble.

That's why he had written that clause, to nip Tian Mengshen's future ability to offend bigshots. So he will have less headaches in the future.

"Forget it," Luo Huifang waved her hand dismissively. "let's go and meet Mimi, Mengshen."

The disciple and the Shifu left the house.

The room was quiet.

So Lai Meihui was about to open her mouth but no words came out. The dual cultivator had a confused face.

This was Feng Delun's "silencer" technique. The one who could cast it other than the elder brother was eldest brother. She turned her confusion towards Ming Yongnian.

"It's been too noisy in this house." Was Ming Yonganian's reasoning.

Lai Meihui looked pitiful. Her shoulders were sagged. She looked no better than Lan Jianhong who was in the corner.

Ming Yongnian closed his eyes, entering a meditative state.

Finally everything was quiet…

[Nian.]

Ming Yongnian did not react.

[Nian.]

He was still meditating.

[Nian!!!]

Kaijun huffed. He was the one calling out to Ming Yongnian telepathically.

Finally came Ming Yongnian's reply, [Mo Huijun is here.]

[He can't hear us. I'll make sure of it.]

[...]

[Just listen to what I have to say.] Kaijun reasoned. [Will you turn the entire Barren realm into our sect?]

[That was a question.]

Kaijun, [...] Why was it so hard to talk to one's little brother? [This realm has no one governing over it.]

There were indeed people living in this realm, but they could not be categorized as a government. They were too scattered, they had no political power, nor military power. Both were an important essence of a government. If they have none of those then no one will recognize them as a country.

Ming Yongnian was silent. But the Immortal realized that Kaijun was waiting for him to say something. He knows what his older brother was trying to tell him. [Your point?]

[We'll have to do something about it.]

Yes, they will have to do something with the people living in this realm. Ming Yongnian is aware that the opportunity to turn an entire realm into a sect does not present itself every other day. They could seize the chance before word gets out that they were creating a sect here and have some interested party move into the barren realm to establish their own settlement. Or they could establish their sect as the government.

Ming Yongnian asked, [What are the options you came up with?]

Kaijun began, [It is possible to move the people living in this realm. We'll have to be responsible and give each family that we move a stipend, help them relocate their houses. We do not want to invite bad karma to ourselves. I could relocate them all to Dongfu. But that will invite trouble to our doorsteps prematurely.]

Relocating the people of this realm to Dongfu was risky. They will unintentionally let slip the information that they were building a sect.

Kaijun, [There is also the possibility that these people do not wish to move.]

And there's that. Ming Yongnian had a feeling the old man they met when they first came to this realm would be reluctant to move.

Kaijun, [Moving people around is too risky at this stage. But we couldn't exactly leave the people of this realm be. Our plans of creating a sect will affect this entire realm. When the spiritual energy of this realm is restored there will be beasts. These people will have no means of protecting themselves.

[We could always provide them with our protection and that would solve the problem of needing to move them into another realm. Unfortunately mortals are resilient beings. Give them a good environment to live in and before you know it in the next one hundred years there will be no village under our protection, but a country instead.

[Once word got out that the Barren realm has even a sliver of spiritual energy, our presence, and our sect standing within the realm. I'm certain those other cultivators who have touched the ceiling of immortality would detect the growing spiritual energy within the Barren realm. I predict that people will move to the Barren realm in droves. Once this happens the immigrants will try and establish a settlement.]

Ming Yongnian opened his eyes and met Kaijun's gaze.

Through their telepathic connection Kaijun chuckled. [I know how much you don't like strangers to enter your room since we were little.] In this case it wasn't Ming Yongnian's room strangers would enter. It will be "Ming Yongnian's Barren realm". [So, we either have a sect and a government separately or choose to have the sect as the government.]

[The heavens may prohibit it.] This was Ming Yongnian's biggest concern.

[Being too strong all at once will certainly bring their envious eyes, that's why we do it one step at a time.] Kaijun reasoned.

Ming Yongnian knew what Kaijun was trying to tell them to do. [Like what you did with Dongfu? Introducing cultivation to the entire populace by creating a school?]

[Something like that.]

Breaking their eye contact, Ming Yongnian looked anywhere else but Kaijun. This was a sign letting Kaijun know that Ming Yongnian was not pleased by the plan his older brother had proposed.

"Ah'nian you are truly a Weilong. I'm glad that I decided on Weilong as your courtesy name." Kaijun's tone came out as a tease.

When Kaijun said this it attracted the entire room's attention. One must understand that having the responsibility of naming someone like Ming Yongnian meant that person was worthy to enter the annals of history.

Jie Qiqiang's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Was it brother Kaijun who thought of the name?"

"Of course it was me!" Kaijun proclaimed loudly.

Even the little ancestor hiding beneath Ming Yongnian's robes came out of her hiding spot.

While Ming Yongnian accused Kaijun in his heart: you started a topic only to end it suddenly.

Jie Qiqiang asked, "Why gave eldest brother the courtesy name 'Ming Weilong'?"

Ming Yongnian glared at Kaijun. There was even a black aura surrounding the Immortal.

But Kaijun ignored all the signs with a smirk on his face. He began recounting a story. "When we were children we had some servants in our house hired by our father. Old servants within our house knew of Nian's quirk and habits. So they know exactly what to do and what not to do around him. There was this one new servant and if I recall correctly one of the older servants did not quite like this new servant.

"The older servant decided to let the new servant go into Nian's room to clean it up. Nian came back when the servant was in the middle of cleaning the room. All of you could guess what Nian will do next."

Yes, all of them could definitely imagine what a young Ming Yongnian did to the new servant. But not Mo Huijun. The Devil Venerable asked, "What did Ming Weilong do?"

"Eldest brother must have thrown the servant into the ditch." Jiang Xiaotong said casually, like he was enjoying a fine breeze.

"Or break the servant's legs." Lai Meihui had a nostalgic look.

The Devil Venerable's eyebrows shot up. Was Lai Meihui a masochist? From the woman's expression, Ming Yongnian indeed broke her leg. How was she the Golden Crowned Lord's?

"That only happened to the two of you." Jin Liwei said from where he sat down.

Mo Huijun stared at Ming Yongnian, earning a questioning eye from the Immortal. The Devil Venerable spoke, "I never knew you were a sadist."

"..." Ming Yongnian gave the Devil Venerable a "dead fish eyes".

Kaijun would really love to interrogate Jin Liwei about Jiang Xiaotong and Lai Meihui's story, alas he has a story to tell himself. "I am proud to inform you that young Nian was not as wild as he is now. He merely led the servant out of his room politely. From that moment on Nian prohibited any entry to his room. Though he may or may not kick my third leg for barging into his room the first time.

"Any items that belonged to Nian were guarded meticulously. At some point the servants likened him to a dragon who hoards and guards its treasures between its claws. And when my glorious self had to choose a courtesy name for my little brother I must name him a dragon. Nian already earned the title of a mighty dragon, I might as well make it official. Ming Weilong, The Lofty Dragon of the Ming family." Kaijun ended his story with a high note. His arms were spread to emphasize his words.
