Right Under His Nose

Could the holes be a way of surveillance?

This was what Di Tou was most concerned about.

After all, considering he could think of using his Spiritual Sense to investigate through the hole when he had thought it lead directly outside meant that someone else could think of the same idea.

If someone was high enough cultivation, or had a strong enough Spiritual Sense, Di Tou felt like the holes could easily be a way for them to stealthily pry into the abode.

Di Tou couldn't help but be very concerned.

After all, he typically let down his guard a lot more inside the house. After all, while it wasn't a perfect haven, Di Tou at least had some confidence in the fact that Mu Di Bai wouldn't send him to somewhere entirely unguarded.

Further, the street was a rather quiet one and secluded from the busier streets of the Academy that he knew of, so Di Tou had felt rather safe here.
