A Guest in the Middle of the Night

Each rake was replaced by a longer one, than a longer one, followed by an even longer one!

Eventually they gave up and made a rake with compound parts. As long as one took some time, the additional parts could be tacked onto the end of the old one, allowing the rake to be extended infinitely, at least in theory. Of course, there came to be the small issue that making such a large rake wasn't very practical, and no matter how Di Tou pulled, no matter how great his strength was, it wasn't like he could shove the rake ten feet in the ground and then pull it perfectly even, right?

It wasn't a matter of strength but a matter of force distribution! The center of the rake would clear the ground quite well and even help till the land somewhat, but the edges would barely graze the ground.
