Killing it Proper, Part 1

NOTE: Sorry for the delay, but as I promised last Monday, here are two chapters today!

Yggdrasil's blue sun was dipping on our east by the time we returned to the river crossing where we had our battle with an extra feisty piece of outerwear. And yes, in the Realm Ethereal, the sun did rise in the west and set in the east.

When we arrived, Liara and I were greeted by a friendly bark on the left side of the Örmt river. There we found a horse-sized, russet-colored patchwork wolf lounging by the river bank. 

Another welcoming bark caused Liara's brow to furrow.

"Yesterday's enemy is tomorrow's friend, right?" she asked. 

"Exactly," I winked at her. That's when I noticed something that made my brow furrow too. "That thing's dead-dead, right?" 

I sent that question to the patchwork wolf who had its front paws pressed on a glossy piece of black cloth lying benignly on the ground.
