The Glowing Stick of Destiny, Part 2

I've always loved the tale of the sword in the stone. The one about a young kid who'd been duped by an elderly wizard into thinking he was the 'chosen one' meant to fight great evil by using a powerful magical item to restore balance in the world.

It was the plot to every cool major movie franchise that I loved—space wizards fighting with laser swords, regular earth wizards fighting with magic wands, or sickly New York kids turned super soldiers fighting evil racists with magic shields—and even though I hated the idea of being a 'chosen one' which I suspected the Norns helped to create during that messed up night of sacrifice for a purpose they've yet to reveal, I always hoped I would at least get a cool magic item to help me fight whatever great evil I would eventually be pitted against.
