Like a Dragon, Part 1

With my automaton gone, I had a brief reprieve. Time enough to catch a quick breath and pull out the glowing stick of destiny I'd stashed inside my bag of storing.

"Yo," I said in greeting.

I raised the broken wooden shaft to my eye level so I could give it a proper inspection. Softly glowing runes were engraved around its wooden surface, all twinkling brightly and reminding me of the sea of stars I'd seen when I was passed out earlier.

I took note of how the two unknown runes I'd used up against the demon wolf were glowing again. I assumed that meant I could use their power once more. I wasn't sure. Gungnir's status was unreadable even with the aid of my bar's 'Identify' app.

"Groovy."

My gaze drifted over to the broken shaft half embedded in the fissure floating in the space at the very middle of the chamber.

"They look like twins," I realized.

My gaze drifted back to the stick of destiny in my left hand.
