I'm not Fired?

*

"Cyra, Come here." Oh hell No!

"Yes sir," I said standing up, Liam shot me a glare and knowing well what I did wrong I answered again.

"Yes... Liam." I dropped the files Gomez had sent me, took a deep breath and walk to Liam's table.

"Do you need something?" I asked nervously.

"Must I need something before I can call my secretary?" Liam asked.

"No..., I'm sorry," I said looking down.

Liam stopped typing and he focused his attention on me fully, I became stiff feeling nervous and I'm sure he noticed.

"Go to Gomez and get me my schedule for the day, he'll let you know everything else." Liam said before going back to his work.

Was that it? Was this my last task on this job, I stared at Liam in complete terror, I had a million questions going through my mind but I couldn't voice any.

"Cyra? Cyra!" Liam called out.

"Yes!" I answered distracted from my thoughts.

"Go!" He said.

I nodded turning around to the elevator, I didn't know what to think now but if this truly was my last task on the job, I wasn't going to do it without pouring out my mind first, I just needed to hear it from Gomez first.

The elevator door opened and I made my way to Gomez's office ignoring anyone who spoke to me. I opened the door finding Gomez in a frenzy, I thought he would be sad about me leaving, that just meant more work for him, didn't it?

"Good, you're here. Sit. Sit." He said excitedly, which I did.

"Liam said to get his schedule for the day," I said slowly trying to understand the situation.

"Oh, you're going to be doing much more than that sweetheart." Gomez smiled, I gave him a confused look while tilting my head a bit.

"What?" Gomez eyed me, seeing my expression.

"So... I'm not fired, just to be clear," I asked sceptically.

"Oh God no, I would kill myself if that happens, besides you're the first one he's ever liked, I mean sweetheart you saved this company from losing millions." I stared at Gomez as he spoke, I still couldn't believe what he was saying.

"Wait- Then the early dismissal and the weekend off?" I asked again.

"This isn't an interrogation sweetheart, cut back on the questions. Liam had a family meeting that evening so I told you to go home early and the weekend was used to go through and properly amend the contract you supposedly fixed. Is that to your satisfaction, miss?" Gomez snapped at me but still answered anyway.

I nodded slowly but there were so many questions I wanted to ask, especially to Liam, I needed to know what was going on. Why wasn't I informed about the meeting? Was this job worth walking on pins and needles? I looked at Gomez who was happily typing away on his computer and cleared my throat.

"Er... One more question, please. I won't ask anymore till you tell me to." I put my hands together asking. Gomez eyed me before nodding.

"If all this happened, then why are you so happy this morning?" I asked finally.

The smile on Gomez's face grew wider that I actually became scared, he placed both his hands under his chin as if reliving a fond memory.

"As of today, you, Cyra Hudson, are now the official personal assistant to Liam Richards," Gomez said clapping.

"Be happy, you got a promotion just after joining the company, that has never happened to anyone." Gomez smiled as I still looked confused.

"But I thought I was till under probation, training?" I asked, Gomez glared at me and I hurriedly held my mouth, Gomez nodded before answering me.

"Well, you're not anymore, still under training, yes, but you'll be trained on the job." Gomez started

"Your job description is now attending to Liam's every need, sorting out his schedule before the next day, if you can do that weekly, that'd be better, oh and don't forget to put in at least 2-3 hours of free time, he gets cranky when he's worked up and also for unforeseen engagements." Cyra tried taking all this down which seemed almost impossible.

"You should know everything there is to know about his personal life and only leave when he lets you. I already made a list of do's and don'ts so it should be a breeze... Oh, I'm so excited." Gomez said dumping a truckload of information on me.

"Here's his schedule for the day, learn it and master the format, this phone has all of Liam's important clients and associates so use it properly, you'll also handle Liam's private phone if necessary and then here comes the big bonus. You now attend every business meeting and make sure all the papers are in order, that's your secretary's job but it's full-time now and more." Gomez added.

Shaken at how my job had just broadened from just organizing files to a full-on babysitter and corporate manager in one go, this is what I get for not keeping my mouth to myself. Gomez stood up fixing a button on his colourful suit as he extended a hand to me, I took it before he said.

"Welcome to hell Cyra." Gomez smiled.

I felt a chill go up my spine as I tried not to show how scared or intimidated I truly felt, no more early nights for me.

"That's quite a lot for one person..." I started and Gomez sent me another glare, I sighed and put on a big fake smile.

"If you can do it, then I'll definitely try my best and go over, Liam has never found a better secretary till now," I said still smiling.

"That's the kind of attitude you should show to this job, I indeed handled much more than that but I'm sure you'll get through," Gomez said going back to his seat.

"You should run along now, it's almost 8:30, Liam's day starts by 9 am sharp." I picked up the extra worksheet and files as I left the office, this was going to be a long day.

Gomez watched the confused girl as she left his office, although he was happy to be relieved of some of his duties, he couldn't help but think things were going too soon, but then he remember the conversation he had with Liam the other day.

****************************************************************************************************************************

"You what?" Gomez asked.

"It's as I've said, I want to make Cyra part of the executive team," Liam said again.

"You can't do that, I'm on the executive team and that's by default and hard work, she just started today and because she worked some kind of impossible magic you want her making decisions?" Gomez asked.

"You didn't see her Gomez, for once, just once, Matthew was shut down and shut down for the right reasons, besides, you need to investigate who tampered with that contract behind our backs, now that a more pressing issue," Liam said leaning into his chair.

"I'll be sure to take care of that, but rethink your decision. I trust you completely Liam but I just don't think this is the right road to trail." Gomez advised.

"Then tell me, Gomez, what should I do?" Liam asked, his eyes almost pleading.

Gomez didn't understand what Liam saw in Cyra that was so special, first, he brought her in without an interview, secondly, she somehow performed a miracle that even he missed and finally, he would have said that she had something to do with Liam but they've been together since they were kids, he would know. So what's so special about this particular girl?

"Liam is you know who acting up again," Gomez asked gently not to arouse anger.

Liam looked at Gomez with clear eyes, as dark as night, he knew he shouldn't have asked because whatever it was always answered a call.

"Hey little go-cart, you called." It said.

"I was talking to Liam, would you please bring him back," Gomez said picking his words carefully.

"Hey, don't tell me you're still afraid of me, I'm perfectly harmless now, thanks to that sexy therapist, I can still live in this body." It smiled a devilish smile.

"Good for you but if you don't mind me asking, why does Liam want this Cyra girl so close?" Gomez asked.

He was quiet for a while as if thinking about what to say next, he glared at Gomez.

"Gomez, you've been with ol'Liam here the longest, so if Liam finds peace with this girl, leave it at that, I wouldn't want to get mad on his behalf, you know what'll go down if that ever happened again." It said shooting daggers at Gomez.

Gomez swallowed hard shifting a bit, it didn't have a name but it had an undeniable presence that came out only when angered or worried.

"Gomez?" Liam asked.

"Nothing. Why don't we give Cyra the day off and also the weekend off as a reward for her achievement, of course, that wouldn't be enough, on Monday she starts her duties as not only your secretary but your personal assistant, that way she's always close to you." Gomez said.

"But the position?" Liam pushed.

"I understand, that's why we're keeping her close. We'll watch her for at least 6 months, let her achieve bigger goals and show not just you but prove to the company how capable she is, that way no one can question your decision." Gomez offered.

Liam seemed hooked on the idea as Gomez spoke, and eventually, Liam agreed with Gomez's plan. Gomez was relieved but he was certainly more worried about Cyra, would she be able to handle the dark side of Liam? But in truth, he was more worried about his friend.
