How to Spend a Weekend.

*

The elevator bell dinged revealing an absent-minded Cyra, clutching unto every piece of paper in her arms. She took in a deep breath, walked out of the elevator, kept the relevant papers on her desk and proceeded to stand in front of Liam.

"I have your schedule for the day Liam," Cyra said unenthusiastically. Liam simply nodded ignoring the slight change in her tone.

Cyra read out his schedule as if it weighed her down, she seemed distracted and with all her unanswered questions floating around in her head the stress of not being given any sufficient answers didn't help and now here she was, reading her boss his schedule for the day.

Wasn't she suppose to get like a week or a month's worth of training before taking over such responsibilities? Cyra mindlessly thought as she read, as much as she didn't understand the situation, there wasn't much she could do about it.

"... Would that be all?" Cyra asked after she was done.

"I believe Gomez has informed you about the new development in this office," Liam said as more of a done statement than a question.

"Yes, and I have so many questions to accompany this new development," Cyra answered.

"Direct all your questions to Gomez for now, at the moment I cannot give you the answers that would satisfy you." Liam directly avoided the question. Cyra nodded slowly before going back to her seat, things were going to be awkward at the office for a while.

***********************************************************************************************

It's only been a week since I started working as Liam's personal assistant and trust me when I say that this is the exact definition of hell, I was always working and I hardly went home, the only times I believe I went home were to get a change of clothes and in Liam's words...

"You should just bring your clothes to the office, it'll be easier that way."

Today is Friday and we were finally done for the day, thankfully, the only thing Liam had left was another private dinner with whoever, so it likely meant that I would be getting off early today.

And as for tomorrow, Liam was going to a golf course club to attend a business party and right after that he had the rest of the evening and Sunday off, which meant a break for me too. How in the world did Gomez manage this torture every day, it's no wonder no one stayed in this position long enough.

Three months, I don't think I can last another week running around and also catering to Liam's every need.

"Cyra, I'll be leaving for dinner now, you're welcome to join us if you want," Liam said putting on his jacket.

I looked up from the document I was typing and smiled shaking my head,

"Thank you, sir, but I'd rather head home early today," I answered.

"Alright then, please send my regards to Smith," Liam said walking into the elevator.

"Sure will sir."

The elevator doors closed with a ding completely removing Liam's presence from the room. I stood up stretching out my arms finally done for the week and I got to get off work early too. I started picking up my things and getting ready to leave, determined to go to Penny's shop today no matter what.

It has been a busy week and I haven't had time with the Longmans in a while, well except for Smith. I would really love to see Penny again, Nancy and I talk every other day but seeing her would be nice too.

I walked around the office turning off every electrical appliance and closing the windows when the sight of the busy streets of London caught my attention.

It was the window beside Liam's table. The streets were busy with its loud cars, the subtle change of the traffic lights, the occasional passing bird and the orange sky-dyed clouds made the view simply beautiful. I wish I had a camera that could use to just capture the moment.

I was staring outside when I heard someone clear their throat behind me, I turned around surprised to find Liam standing there looking a bit fluttered, I tucked my hair behind my ear nervously as I stood up straight.

"Liam! Er... Did you forget something?" I asked.

"Em... Yes, I needed the draft agreement with Unity exports." Liam said.

"Right away." I briskly walked over to my table searching for the file that he needed.

As Cyra retrieved the file she was looking for, she turned around bumping into Liam's full body, she froze. He was so close that she could almost feel his breath on her, the dim office lights, every slight movement she made gave her a feel of Liam's framed body and after a few uncomfortable seconds in front of the well-built man, instinctively Cyra stepped back looking at anything but the man in front of her.

"He- Here's the file you ask for," I said raising up the file to the 6ft 2 man against my 5ft 6 stature.

Liam took the file grazing over at Cyra's hand making her shiver again, this time from the warmth coming from an already extremely hot guy, Liam smiled at Cyra's reaction as if he had expected it.

"Would you mind me dropping you off?" Liam asked gently.

"Er... Well, I- I have plans, but thanks. Besides, Smith will be here soon and I think you should leave now before you're late for your evening appointment." I said with my eyes still on the floor.

Liam nodded his head not saying anything else and left the office leaving Cyra behind, as soon as the doors closed shut Cyra felt weak in her knees as she finally collapsed under the intense pressure in the room, the only thing that ran through her mind was how close Liam was to her and that made her turn red and feel dizzy.

A call on her phone distracted her from reliving the moment over and over again in her mind, when she looked over the phone ID, she froze again, it wasn't Smith but her father calling her. Cyra composed herself ready to take the call, this was no time to be thinking about Liam.

"Hello?" Cyra answered.

Mr. Hudson: "Cyra? Are you done with work for the day?" Father asked.

Me: "Yes, but I won't be home on time either." I answered coldly.

Mr. Hudson: "You should come home, we're having dinner with Veronica's future husband."

Me: "I'll take a hard pass on Patricia insulting me in front of a strange man, so no."

Mr. Hudson: "As you wish, I'll have the cook prepare something against your arrival."

Cyra was shocked at her father's sudden behavior towards her as if it wasn't enough that he wanted to invite her out to humiliate herself but now he wanted to make sure that she was fed. Cyra stayed silently over the phone trying to search for an underlining meaning.

Mr. Hudson: "Well then, that will be all."

Cyra still didn't say anything even after the line went dead, she placed the phone on her table a bit dumbfounded by what had just occurred. Her phone rang again distracting her but this time it was Mr. Smith, Cyra seemed relieved, to say the least, she didn't think she could handle another call from her father again or Liam for that matter.

She quickly packed her things and sprinted out of the office like someone who had just seen a ghost, when she got outside, Mr. Smith was already parked in front.

"Hello champ, how's work today," Smith asked.

"Weird Smith, really weird."

We got to Penny's shop and I could already smell the fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies and muffins, they were delightful, and with a cup of hot chocolate, that would really make my day.

"Cyra!" Nancy screamed immediately I walked through the shop doors and the little bell rang.

"Hey, Nancy!" I said hugging the girl who was surprisingly smaller than me, she definitely got that from Penny's side of the family.

"Is that my lovely Cyra I hear," Penny said coming out of the kitchen with flour all over her face, a dedicated baker indeed.

"Yes Penny, How's my favorite baker in the world doing?" I asked going over to hug the petit woman.

"Splendid child, I'm even much better knowing that you're around." Penny smiled with her eyes closed.

"Me too Penny, me too." I smiled.

Apart from my long days at work and the inability to bear living in the same house as my family, the Longmans were always my getaway. It's almost as if they were angels sent just for me.

Thankfully today, there weren't a lot of customers, so we had a lot of time to catch up, I told Penny about my new job, my unexpected promotion, the killing workload, and everything.

Nancy sat at the corner smiling over my and Penny's conversation, Penny even volunteered to make something special for Liam so he wouldn't give me a lot of work. Gee, part of me hoped that would work.

Well, after I had bored Penny with my constant talking, it was time for her to make the batter for the next day. Penny left Nancy and I to ourselves but not after insisting that I stay for dinner.

"So, how is the blooming relationship between you and your boss?" Nancy asked.

"Don't even get me started Nan, I thought I was already working hard as just the secretary but personal assistant included... It's a whole other story." I threw my hands in the air.

"Well, at least you still have a job, hasn't he said anything about the other day?"

"I wish," I said rollIng my eyes, "but I'm not about to push it, I finally have a day off tomorrow, might as well make the most of it."

We talked for a few more minutes before Penny said it was time for dinner. We went upstairs, above the shop, where they lived, to have dinner.

We talked, laughed, and made jokes, quite the opposite of what happens in my forever-dull house. And when dinner was over, Smith offered to drive me home, and on the way, we had a chirpy conversation that lasted all the way there.

I came down, said my goodbyes and thought about how I would spend my day off tomorrow, and I decided to stuff my face while catching up on all my favorite series, for me, that was the best way to start a weekend.
