"Not guilty!"
The judge's verdict wasn't anything out of ordinary.
Contrary to how Theo felt about it due to his direct involvement with the girl, this entire scene wasn't rigged for sentencing all of the prisoners.
The elder got a sentence because it fitted his crimes. The second man who was judged and that Theo didn't know most likely simply lacked someone to speak up for him.
But as the sentencing of the third prisoner showcased, it was possible to avoid death during the rounds of judgment.
Whether or not that third person was an actual prisoner instead of a decoy whose job it was to show that the Crusaders were not as bloodthirsty as their invasion suggested…
Theo couldn't tell. But quite honestly, the second he heard the verdict for Veila's sake, he couldn't care any less.
The young man breathed a sigh of relief.
