Pre-ultimate quest

Theo stood back into the crowd with beaten-up Veila still in his arms.

For him, the entire thing could very well be over. There were no more people that ever helped him up during his time in the sect so he had no desire to help the other prisoners… even if they were as innocent as Veila.

Still, regardless of how Theo felt about it, the trials continued.

The first man to be judged after Veila's case ended up absolved of most of his sins and sentenced to just two years of forced labor. While important on its own and insanely important for the man himself, this result only ended up forcing Theo into a pit of depression and self-blame.

'They are not as bloodthirsty as I expected…' he thought when he realized not all of the prisoners would get executed. Then, his eyes wandered down to the girl in his arms. 'Did I try too damn hard to save her? Maybe they would let her go anyway…'

Theo shook his head and raised his eyes.
