Michigan's Upper Peninsula
I stood outside, head tilted back, a wide grin spread across my face as I watched Piper in her dragon form. She soared across the pitch black sky, her wings blocking the moon each time she made a pass around it. Her scales glistened in the limited moonlight, and my breath caught in my throat. She was stunning.
A moment later, she landed, the ground shaking from the force. I braced myself, and another moment later, Piper walked toward me in her human form. Her face was flushed, cheeks red, her green eyes swirling with a hint of fiery yellow. Her red hair was windblown and wild.
"Feel better?" I asked as I leaned up against a nearby tree trunk, arms crossed. I could spend an eternity watching her and never get bored.
"Yes." Her voice was breathless, and she smiled, face alight with joy.
