Chapter 91: Absorb

After many years, Jack felt complicated emotions upon seeing an old friend, Black Widow. However, he quickly realized that the person in front of him wasn't the same as the one from his memories.

With his current abilities, it was easy for him to recognize someone. Although there was a hint of spying in her eyes, Natasha did not react when seeing him.

"Red Queen, check out Natasha's past, I want the most detailed information," he ordered before carrying a teapot and walking to the dining room.

"Wow! It smells so good!" The delicious food in front of them made Wanda and Pietro lose interest in chatting, and they drooled over the full food table.

Chloe carefully placed the cutlery and stood by, watching everyone, especially Natasha. She could tell at first glance that this woman was no ordinary person.

"Let's eat, kids," Jack grinned and gestured for them to begin.

Thirty minutes later

The table was empty. The dinner was enjoyed by all, and Natasha had to admit that it was probably the best food she had ever tasted.

After dinner, Jack sent the two kids and Chloe out for a walk, and he stayed behind with Natasha to talk about the children's education issues.

He made two cups of tea and handed one to Natasha. Sitting down calmly, Jack got straight to the point. "Okay, Romanoff, can you tell me why Fury sent you here? Last time it was Coulson. This time it's you. Who's next? Barton or Hill?. Although I don't personally mind, you still need to give me an explanation."

Natasha's hand holding the tea cup trembled slightly. She didn't expect him to recognize her or know about Barton and Hill. Fury didn't mention that Jack had information of them.

"Fury just wanted me to protect Wanda and Pietro. That's all. He heard about what happened in Sokovia and feared someone might harm them."

Realizing her identity was exposed, Natasha decided to be direct. She stated her purpose. "By the way, he also asked me to observe you."

"That's the way he is. He keeps an eye on everyone." Jack nodded and asked, "So, how's your observation going?"

Natasha said with a slight smile, elegantly leaning her body and crossing her legs to show off her gorgeous body, "For now, I haven't noticed anything unusual."

"But I can tell that you care a lot about those two kids, especially the girl named Wanda."

"Your observation skills are good, but sometimes knowing too much is not good for you." Jack took a deep breath, trying to resist the temptation of looking at Natasha, and ordered her to leave "You can go now, you can keep being their teacher. Tell Fury I will turn S.H.I.E.L.D. upside down if anything happens to Wanda and Pietro."

As the energy from the stones overflowed, the burning pain slowly eased and eventually disappeared completely after ten minutes.

Jack couldn't help but laugh. He was right - the Hellfire on Ghost Rider's body was the source of his transformation energy. All he had to do was absorb these flames, and it seemed to work.

Johnny had signed a contract that lasted more than ten years without any changes until Mephisto appeared, and he became the Ghost Rider. And Jack was not wrong. Mephisto had given Johnny the energy to transform, and Johnny punished sinners, burning their souls to gain energy.

It was a perfect cycle, and now Jack's task was to absorb all of Johnny's transformation energy so he could become like he was before.

He could feel the absorbed energy from the hellfire continuously strengthening his soul, and he felt a sense of ease and comfort he had never felt before.

As time passed, the Ghost Rider's energy became weaker and weaker until it finally faded away, and Johnny turned back into himself.

Feeling the comfort in his body and soul, Jack became a little lost in thought. However, just at that moment...
