In 1985, Oshkosh City, Wisconsin
Jack walked casually around the medieval-themed cosplay party, which he was attending for the first time. He felt pretty good about it, but people kept pointing and commenting on his attire.
Meanwhile, a large facility with different architectural styles was in an unknown place. It looked both futuristic and strangely like the 1970s and 1980s.
A massive display screen showed a thick, golden line in the facility's center. A small, visible white branch extended from it slowly.
The staff in the hall didn't bat an eye at this sight. However, a team of Minuteman in orange and black combat suits quickly arrived, and the lead woman said, "1985, Oshkosh, Wisconsin, let's go!" She opened a portal, and the Timekeepers entered one by one.
.....
Meanwhile, on the other side, Jack saw the portal suddenly opening in front of him, raised an eyebrow, and then turned around and walked out of the party without looking back.
After he left, the Minuteman appeared from the portal and spotted Jack running away.
"Chase him!" Without hesitation, the squad chased after him.
Jack made turns and twists through the crowd, quickly leaving the party range and entering a forest.
At this point, he stopped.
The Minuteman, who was in tracking, also stopped. Each of them held a short glowing stick and looked at him cautiously.
"You really don't know how to give up."
Jack turned around and sighed, "Since that's the case, I'm sorry."
"Capture him!" The female leader ordered directly. Instantly, the Minuteman rushed to subdue Jack.
Ten minutes later.
Without much effort, Jack knocked a group of Minuteman down, unable to get back up.
"Come on, let me see," Jack said, crouching down to collect his spoils. He muttered under his breath, "These people are really poor. Not a single thing of value."
"Nice moves," Sylvie's voice came from behind him. Jack saw her leaning against a tree, enjoying a pudding.
"Was there pudding at the party?" Jack asked, staring at the dessert in Sylvie's hand and unconsciously drooling.
"No, I got this from the supermarket," Sylvie replied as she tossed the empty pudding aside. She then approached the Minuteman leader and carried her over her shoulder before opening a portal and disappearing.
"We should go. The reinforcements will be here soon," Sylvie said.
After collecting a Tempad and several Reset charges, Jack stood up and followed into the portal.
Meanwhile, another team of Minuteman arrived just two minutes after they left. The leader was a man wearing a brown suit who looked refined and elegant, and the person next to him, who occasionally revealed a sinister smile, would have been recognizable to Jack.
It was Loki
On the other side, in the supermarket.
"What... is this?" Jack stood in front of a shelf, looking at Sylvie with surprise.
On the shelf in front of him were six Reset Charges, each connected by several wires. In fact, it was not just one country. There were six or seven Reset Charges on more than a dozen shelves, all connected by wires!
The tangle of wires eventually connected to a strange device beneath his feet.
"This is quite an operation." Jack admired, understanding what Sylvie was planning. "I was curious how you could detonate dozens of time branches at the same time before, but now that I see this...you must have planned this for a while."
"Since I escaped from the TVA, I've been planning this," said Sylvie while crouching in front of the equipment and connecting the monitor to it.
"Alright, now we just have to wait." She stood up and casually picked up the Tempad from the ground.
"We need to hurry and find the location of the Time Keepers in her mind."
"Alright, you're in charge," replied Jack, shrugging his shoulders helplessly. He wasn't familiar with this kind of thing, so he had to follow.
He cursed himself for traveling in Marvel too early, missing out on all the movies that came after.
Back in the room, Bucky sat bored with his legs up on the table, watching the monitor in front of him. When he saw them return, he stood up and asked, "Where have you been? You're so slow."
Ignoring him, Sylvie put the Minuteman on the wall and placed her hand on her head, allowing a green light to penetrate her brain as she searched for the information she needed.
"What is she doing?" Bucky asked Jack, confused by what he was seeing.
"She is reading her mind" Jack shrugged and sat down in front of the monitor.
"What? Reading her mind??" Hearing the word and its explanation, Bucky took two steps back, further away from Sylvie.
"Don't worry, she's already seen all of your secrets."
"Well, that's alright... wait, what?!" Bucky let out a sigh of relief at the first part of Jack's response, but he jumped up at the second part.
"Relax, We're all adults, nothing to be ashamed of."
Jack comforted insincerely as he watched the surveillance. There were many people crowded in the shelter, waiting for rescue. But he knew that the storm would completely destroy this place in a few hours, and not a single person would be left alive.
But he couldn't do anything about it because he was also in danger. Moreover, disasters like this happened countless times in history. This was just a small one. Time passed by minute by minute, and Sylvie was still searching for clues, but progress was slow.
During his break, Bucky went out to get some food and brought two books for Jack, both of them free best-selling sci-fi novels, which helped pass the time.
Jack read the books while he waited, and he was impressed by the imaginative writing of the people of this era, who had a talent for science fiction.
As he was reading, his gaze accidentally shifted to the surveillance footage, and he was suddenly stunned. He rubbed his eyes and looked again, and he was not mistaken.
He saw a team of Minuteman appear at the entrance, but that wasn't the focus. The focus was that Jack recognized one of the people on the team.
'Loki'
'What was this guy doing here?!'
While Jack was still in disbelief, Sylvie finally succeeded in her task and took her place as the Minuteman. However, as soon as she turned her head and saw Loki looking around at the surveillance footage, her face turned sour.
"These bastards!"
