Chapter 98: Vanished

"This is the Time Variance Authority?" Jack looked around as they walked down a hall to see where they were. It looked like it was from the 1970s or 1980s when the Cold War was happening.

He put down Bucky and slapped him.

"What's going on?!" Bucky woke up slowly and looked around with wide eyes. When he realized he was in an unfamiliar place, he instinctively looked at Jack.

"Did we... make it?" he asked.

"Yes, we made it," Jack said, handing over his gun and then giving him a knife. "Please, use the gun if there's trouble. I don't want to have to carry you around again."

"Uh... okay."

When Bucky thought about what had happened earlier, he also felt embarrassed. He is a member of the Howling Commandos, after all, but he was knocked out in one hit.

"Let's go!" Sylvie recognized the direction and led the way down the hall. Jack and Bucky followed closely behind, holding their guns.

After they left, another person walked out of the time portal, and it was Loki.

"Well, I like this." Looking left and right, Loki headed towards the direction that Jack and Sylvie had left.

Sylvie led Jack and Bucky through the TVA, repeatedly turning so much that Jack didn't even know where he was. He couldn't help but sigh at how huge the TVA was, but he also felt somewhat lucky.

This was because most of the Minuteman were busy maintaining the timeline. Otherwise, they would have been discovered long ago.

"I mean, do you really know where we're going?" Jack couldn't help but ask in a small voice. Sylvie didn't answer him but suddenly stopped. There was a Minuteman in front of them, seeming to be in contact with someone.

She gestured for Jack and Bucky to stay put and quietly walked up to the Minuteman, placing her hand on his head and releasing a green light.

Normally, the Minuteman should have been controlled or knocked out, but he just stared for a moment before quickly turning around and pulling out his short stick when he saw Sylvie.

"Ah, da!" he shouted.

At that moment, a heavy fist landed on the Minuteman's face, distorting his entire face. He slammed into the wall and then fell to the ground, unconscious.

"Your powers don't work," Jack said, clapping his hands and jokingly commenting. "A straightforward punch is better."

"This is magic, not a power," Sylvie corrected him coldly, still expressionless.

"Magic?" Jack was stunned. "Is there a difference?"

Sylvie rolled her eyes, not bothering to explain the difference between magic and powers. She looked towards the large door at the end of the hallway.

"The Time Keeper is just ahead. Behind that door is a golden elevator that will take us directly to the Time Keeper."

She looked at Jack and said, "But there are a few guards there. Can you handle them?"

"Within 20, no problem," Jack replied.

He walked over and pushed open the door. As he turned the corner, he saw a golden elevator not far away. At the elevator entrance were four Minuteman guarding the area.

"Time criminal!" the Minuteman immediately recognized Jack and drew their short sticks, charging towards him.

Without any hesitation, Jack faced them head-on.

After several punches and kicks, the four loyal Minuteman were defeated, and Jack barely broke a sweat.

"Wow, your skills are still as sharp as ever, Jack!" Bucky exclaimed.

Bucky and Sylvie walked out of the corner, the former admiring the four people on the ground: "Even better than before."

"Don't waste time, let's go," said Jack, nodding as he walked up to the elevator and pressed the button. Sylvie picked up two short sticks, throwing one to Jack.

He didn't refuse, knowing they might face a tough fight soon, having something in his hand was insurance.

"Ding~"

The elevator door opened, Jack and Sylvie went in first, and Bucky went in last. However, as soon as he stepped into the elevator, his whole body began to glow from the chest and disappeared in a flash.

"No!" Jack didn't even have time to react, and Bucky vanished right in front of him. The sudden loss of his comrade filled him with grief and anger.

A yellow-glowing stick fell to the ground, and then he saw several Minuteman appear across from him. The leader was a black woman in a coat, her hand still in a throwing position.

Obviously, she was the one who did this.

"Ah!" Jack's eyes widened with anger, and he was about to rush over and kill them all, but the elevator doors closed silently.

"Bang!" He punched the elevator door heavily, leaving a dent. "Why did it stop? How do I make this damn thing stop?" Jack was going crazy. He wanted to stop the elevator and return, but he realized there wasn't even a single button inside.

"Maybe the Minuteman can help," Sylvie said, her face changing as she looked at Jack's furious state. "They created the TVA, and these devices were developed by them. There should be a way."

"Yes, that's right," Jack said, calming down. The only way to find out what happened to Bucky was to find the Time-Keepers, and they were on their way to meet them.

"Okay, originally, I was planning to resolve this peacefully." Jack's face darkened as he drew his gun from his waist and loaded it. He had been holding back, not wanting to kill, but now he only wanted to kill!

"Ding!"

The elevator arrived, and the doors slowly opened, allowing a faint white mist to ooze in.

As soon as the elevator opened, Jack rushed out like lightning. Sylvie only felt her vision blur, followed by a dense and brief sound of gunfire. When the elevator was fully open, she saw that there were already seven or eight TVA Minuteman lying on the ground, each with a headshot, dead.

At this moment, he stood on a high platform, looking up at three massive figures above him.

They were the Time-Keepers
