Chapter 10: The Infested Hotel part 2

"Where's Tsuki?!" Spirit questioned holding the door keeping as tight of a grip as he possibly could on the door. Where behind it was the dead body of Hana, which tried to break through the door and get to the living.

"They got her...they fucking got her..." Dylan spoke through gritted teeth, feeling a mix of pain and anger. He could've prevented her death, and yet he did nothing but stand there. Watching as they tore her apart, as they pierced her with the leg of a chair. A fucking chair.

The silence had grown palpable in that moment, as they all let the shock dig into their systems.

The quickest to break out of it, was Spirit. Forcing himself to calm his emotions, his thoughts he'd glance back to the group. Not able to see them very well but, able to feel the emotions that were in the air.

"Kuro, Kazui! grab as much food and water as you can! Things that we can eat without having to heat up or cook. Yui, you and Dylan find anything we could use to defend ourselves with!" He would order his friends, bringing them out of their shock and emotions. Sending them running to do what he essentially had demanded. Never being one to order someone around, he would apologize to them when they had gotten to safety.

Looking in the direction Dylan had came from Spirit could hear several footsteps belonging to several bodies headed in his direction. Glancing at the door he was forcing to stay closed. Indecision played at his mind as he tried to figure out what to do. There wasn't much he could do, unless he wanted to become an all you can eat buffet to the dead. The only thing he could do was run.

Run! Run you damned fool! Run!

Fighting against all of his nerves, he would turn to run down the hall, feeling his way around stopping near the storage room Spirit heard the sounds of people ruffling through it.

"Kuro! Kazui run! They are getting deeper inside of the building!" He yelled looking into the storage room to be blinded by a sudden bright light. It was the first bit of clear light he had seen in hours.

Without needing to speak another word, the two men he called friends rushed passed him out of the room. Not before handing him his own flashlight. Grateful that he finally had a form of light, he'd aim it down the hall which was a huge mistake.

Shining the light upon the dead that were making their way down the hall in his direction, he was greeted by a grizzly sight.

The first dead he could see held in its hand, the head of Tsuki, which had blood dripping from the multiple injuries that were inflicted upon her head, and from where her head was torn from her body. The body continuing to shamble forward seemed to be some sort of business man. Or at least used to be one anyways.

The mans white shirt had been painted red with blood. His face was pale, the only thing that gave it color, was the blood of the people he had consumed. The eyes were pale, glazed over. Getting closer and closer, closer..Closer.

Stopping the movement of the dead man was a mighty strike of a kendo stick. The person welding it was Dylan. Unfortunately for the both of them though, it was the last thing the stick would hit as the force of the impact was enough to snap it in half.

"Spirit run!" Dylan roared gripping the broken stick in his hand. Even if it was just half the stick, there was still enough of it left to use as a weapon.

Swinging it a second time, he compensated for the shorter range mid-swing. Not having any benefit as he still overshot the swing. Only catching the next zombie with the broader side of the kendo stick, which didn't do much in the form of damage. What it did succeed in though was stunning it.

Damn it all. Gritting his teeth in aggravation Dylan tightened his grip on the stick, preparing himself to make another strike. This one couldn't miss, he couldn't afford it to.

Being dragged down the hall by Yui. Spirit had no choice but to follow along, or he'd risk losing an arm. Which was something he was rather keen on keeping.

He hated how he had frozen up in that moment, how he stood there and did nothing as they approached him. If it wasn't for Dylan...he probably would've died. That was something he really couldn't afford to think about, but he just couldn't help it. With everything that had happened, with how helpless he felt. Especially after having watched as Hana die right in front of him, watching as she took her last breathes. Deep down a part of him knew the he should've put her out of her misery, but he just couldn't do it. Couldn't bring himself to take her life. Even if she was already dead, he had just hoped she would've made it through, that she somehow could have beaten this fucking virus.

Instead he did nothing, and that resulted in her turning.

Maybe...Maybe he should atone for that...by letting himself get bit, so he could turn into one of those monsters as well.

Before Spirit was allowed to continue that thought, he found himself being dragged into a wall. As a burst of pain shot through his body, it drew him out of his mind almost instantly, realizing that they had arrived at what seemed to be a back door.

"We have to go back for Dylan!" Spirit spoke in protest, only to receive a blow to the back of his head. Turning around he would see Kazui there holding for lack of better terms a beating stick.

"Right now we need to focus on surviving. Focusing on someone else right now is not the smart thing to do when we can't even help ourselves. So go through the back door and worry about Dylan later." Kazui spoke rather loudly, which was something he usually did. Which showed just how severe their situation really was.
