Chapter 32: Go back home!

The sun was shining bright as Ling Meili walked into the room to see Jiang Yan lying on the bed with her foot wrapped in bandages. Ling Meili was shocked and concerned about what could have happened.

"Miss Jiang, what happened to your foot?" Ling Meili asked worriedly.

Jiang Yan let out a sigh and replied, "I was walking down the stairs and slipped. It's nothing serious, just a sprain," lying about her injuries without blinking.

Just then, Hua Mei walked into the room and noticed Jiang Yan's bandaged foot. "Jiang Yan! What the hell happened? Why is your foot wrapped in bandage?" Hua Mei cried.

"I slipped on the stairs," Jiang Yan replied. "It's just a sprain, nothing serious."

"Why weren't you more careful?" Hua Mei exclaimed with frustration.

Jiang Yan tried to explain herself, "I was just in a hurry and didn't see the step properly."

Hua Mei shook her head in disapproval and continued scolding, "You need to take better care of yourself. You can't just go around injuring yourself like this. I will cancel you ticket, you need to stay and rest."

"Yes Miss Jiang, you cannot go back like this. You need to rest," Ling Meili agreed.

Hua Mei nodded approvingly at Ling Meili, "See, even Meili is smarter than you."

Feeling helpless and frustrated with their nagging, Jiang Yan looked at Ling Meili and asked, "Are you going to keep talking more, Ling Meili?"

Ling Meili realized that she was also contributing to the scolding and immediately stopped talking. She turned silent, hoping that the tension in the room would dissipate.

Hua Mei continued to insist that Jiang Yan stay a few more days, so she could recover from her injury before traveling back home. Jiang Yan knew that she had a lot of work left and needed to leave soon, but Hua Mei was persistent.

"I can't stay any longer, Hua Mei. There's too much work to be done," Jiang Yan said with a sense of urgency.

Hua Mei reluctantly agreed, but only after Jiang Yan promised to come back soon since her university was starting soon.

Jiang Yan smiled and said, "I promise I'll be back soon. Don't worry, Hua Mei."

Hua Mei looked at Jiang Yan with concern in her eyes. "But what about your foot? It's not safe for you to travel with such an injury," she said.

Jiang Yan understood Hua Mei's worry, but she couldn't delay her work any further. "I'll be careful, Hua Mei. I'll take wheelchair at the airport. Ling Meili could help me around," she reassured her friend.

Ling Meili, who had been standing silently beside them, spoke up. "Don't worry Miss Hua, I'll make sure Miss Jiang takes care of herself during the journey," she said, hoping to ease Hua Mei's worry.

Hua Mei looked at Ling Meili and nodded, her expression softening. "Okay, but promise me you'll come back to visit soon," she said to Jiang Yan.

Jiang Yan nodded with a smile. "Of course, I'll come back as soon as I can," she promised.

Hua Mei walked Jiang Yan out of the hotel and hugged her tightly. "I wish I could send you off to the airport, but I have some important work to take care of," she said with a sad smile.

Jiang Yan understood and hugged her back. "It's okay, Hua Mei. You've done so much for me already," she said.

Hua Mei quickly wiped away her tears and composed herself. "I've arranged for my driver to take you to the airport. He'll make sure you get there safely," she said, handing Jiang Yan a small card with the driver's information.

Hua Mei gave Jiang Yan a tight hug before she left. "Take care of yourself, Jiang Yan," she said with a sigh.

Jiang Yan hugged her back and whispered, "You too."

After that Jiang Yan got into the waiting car. Ling Meili sat beside her, making sure she was comfortable.

As they drove towards the airport, Jiang Yan looked out of the window and saw the familiar sights of the city. Memories flooded her mind, reminding her of the good times and the bad times she had spent here. A sense of sadness washed over her as she reminisced about the good decade of her life which was spent in this city. She felt a pang of nostalgia as she remembered all her friends, she is yet to meet, in this life.

As they reached the airport, Ling Meili helped her out of the car, while the driver got their things out. Giving one last look, she turned around.

"I'll be back soon," she whispered to herself.

Unbeknownst to her, someone was watching her from a distance. A shadowy figure sat in his car, parked a short distance away from the airport entrance.

Just then, the secretary Li Ming called his boss, Feng Yuansheng. "Sir," he said, his voice hushed and urgent.

Feng Yuansheng turned to look at the airport one last time, watching Jiang disappeared from sight, before he gave the order to Li Ming. "Let's go," he said, his tone firm and resolute.

Jiang Yixuan walked over to the person and apologized for the kick, knowing she had over used her strength in the moment. "Senior, I'm sorry about that," she said. "I didn't mean to hurt you."

The person laughed and replied, "Don't worry, it's all part of the scene. Although, you really did sound very deadly! I must say I was really scared"

Jiang Yixuan chuckled, feeling a bit relieved that the person wasn't holding a grudge against her. Just then she saw her assistant Qin Rui waiting at a side. She then excused herself and walked over to her Qin Rui.

As soon as Qin Rui approached her, she whispered something to her that immediately made her expression turn serious. "My mom messed up again?" Jiang Yixuan asked.

Qin Rui nodded, and Jiang Yixuan felt her nails digging into her skin as she tried to contain her frustration. She knew she would have to deal with her mother's mess-ups later, but for now, she needed to focus on finishing the scene.

Just then, the director called out to Jiang Yixuan. She quickly changed her expression to a gentle one and walked over to the director. "Yes, director?" she asked.

"Jiang Yixuan, this is the last scene of the day," the director announce, "After that you can go back home."

Jiang Yixuan felt a wave of relief wash over her as she heard those words. "Thank goodness," she said with a smile. "I've been looking forward to going home all day." She could finally leave the set and deal with her personal matters.

The director chuckled. "I can imagine. You've been working hard."

Jiang Yixuan nodded in agreement. "Yes, it's been a long day. But I'm glad we were able to finish everything on time."

The director chuckled and replied, "It's because of your talent that we were able to complete the shoot before time. You're truly a gifted actress."

Jiang Yixuan nodded in appreciation, but her mind was still preoccupied with her mother's latest mistake. As she walked off the set, she couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration and resentment towards her mother.
