Chapter 29

~Stella~

After lunch, I arrive at the edge of the packland border to meet with Justine. We picked this spot out when I first got into town. It’s a place that is barely patrolled and is far enough out of the way to hide any meeting there may be. We haven’t had to meet in person, but I wanted a place picked just in case.

After waiting 15 minutes, I finally see Justine walk up to where I am. What the hell could have taken her so long? I’m on borrowed time, and her dragging her feet is not helping. “What took you so long?”

“I had to wait to leave otherwise I would have been stopped or even followed.” Too many excuses that I don’t have time for. I have to put my plan into action.

“Are you ready to get this going?” I ask, exasperated. I just need to get this done so I can go back home. I watch Justine start to twitch nervously and look around. “What’s the problem?” I growl out.
