22 Tension

The Guardian of Death rested on the rooftop, taking the time to heal his wounds. A faint smile curved his lips as he sensed her guarded soul making his way out. The Guardians of the Mortals were here—to capture him. But his guarded soul helped him to stop that Guardian.

Guardians of Death and Mortal Guardians were sworn enemies. Crossing into each other's territory was considered an act of war. If one was caught on the other’s land, they were as good as dead.

The Guardian of Death still maintained secret ties to their former kingdom—Augustia. This alone defied the ancient agreement they had all sworn to uphold. Because of that, the Guardians of Death were seen as traitors, the ones who broke the will of fate itself… and became mortal enemies of the other guardians.

Unfortunately, it didn’t stop the person who is now putting her sword above his head.

“How did a fallen clan come into this world? Are you also asking for refuge?”

“You should have rested right now.” I flipped through every page of the school premises book. I'm trying to look for other places that I don't seem to remember. Illeon is worse than an introvert person, I don't see any memory of her roaming around the place. So the only thing I knew is the place that I have roamed before.

“It is too boring doing nothing.” I responded without looking at him.

“Just like you.” Then I suddenly felt cold in my hand, I slightly put down the book on the table and looked at the milkshake he brought.

“Food and Drinks are banned in the library.” I pointed to the signboard near the librarian's reception.

“I bribed her.” I gave him a disdainful look before I returned to read the book again.

Seems like he is only here to console me. Then I remember the thing that I brought with him before the time reversal, when I came to his place. I shook my head in disbelief.

“My enrollment went smoothly as I already guessed.” He shared and kept pushing the milkshake in my hand.

“Cutting classes seems like also your hobby.” I said as I pushed back his milkshake.

The school has 17 small buildings before the Building 02,04, 05 created. 5 small buildings stopped functioning in two years because of the sudden disappearance of the whole class at the same time. And it happened 7 years ago before I came into this world so 9 years have passed. And among the 5 small buildings, two buildings stopped again after two months of returning to its state. And since then, it has never returned. It became a prohibited place for students for unknown reasons.

The missing students came back but no additional issue of what happened to them has been written. No, no information about them has been publicized in school.

Even the public didn't even get informed that 5 classes have been missing for three weeks. The school hid it effectively.

There is more missing information behind this issue. But the library doesn't have any information about this. The information here is limited. If this issue is meant to be hidden, then Grandma Lourdes wouldn't let a single information of the past issue pass by.

“It is almost 10:00 am, the peak hours of the library.” Trevor mentioned that he still insisted on giving me his milkshake.

I roamed my eyes, the number of people a while ago has increased now. And some of them didn't let me skip in their eyes. They looked at me before looking for their seats. I know some of them took a video of me of my sudden attack before, but Trevor already took that down, yet, it still remains in their minds.

Added to that, I am with someone that is really unusual in their eyes. And Trevor doesn't mind it that they were sending him signals to stay away from me.

“If there's any information that you need, I can help you with my powerful technical skills.” He said proudly with a smile. I gave him a bored look.

“There's a big difference between the social media of the school and the confidential system of the school. Grandma already knows your expertise, even if you are known as a technical man who has no bounds in infiltrating every system he could find, grandma has a way to block you out.”

“I'm not arrogant with my skill… Even the effective and powerful system has a small hole for me to enter.” He confidently stated and still pushed the milkshake in my hand.

I sighed and picked his shake. “Fine… Even though I already gave you a warning, you will never stop.”

“I'm a man built with strong persistence.” As I took a sip, I almost got a brain-freeze because the librarian gently tapped out the table along with the sound of her bell. I didn’t notice her presence.

“Food and drinks aren't allowed.” I bit my lips in annoyance and glared at Trevor. And there he was, giving me a peaceful sign but his playful smile wrinkled my face.

How could he!

They are definitely pranking me right now.

“Leave.”

This is the time I was kicked out in the library. And right now, I really wanted to strangle him. He stayed inside the library while the other students were preventing themselves from laughing.

I put his shake above the cover of the bin.

“I really want to punch him.” I glared at the automatic door of the library before I decided to leave. As I stepped down the stairs, my shoe suddenly felt slip. There's no water, the stairs are not even wet and shoes are even designed to withstand slippery situations.

Is this some kind of Trevor's curse to me right now?

I almost dropped if someone didn't catch my ponytail hair.

Ouch! It's even more painful because the skin of my head stretched out a bit before he grabbed my shoulder to make me stand.

“Sorry about that.”

“Clumsy.” Oh, I didn't notice them. Zebelle, President Rhea, and Jay-Ar Torpin. And Jay-Ar was the one who caught me ( my hair actually.) and Zebelle looked at me with a funny face. She's preventing herself from laughing.

“Are you okay?” President Rhea, our class President, looked at me with concern. “Did you feel dizzy again?”

No, someone deliberately played tricks on me to humiliate me right now.

I looked at the CCTV that is now positioned in our location.

Trevor! I'm gonna punch him a hundred times for playing tricks on me. He's watching me on his phone right now, laughing.

“There's no need for your concern.” I said coldly and was about to turn my backs on them when Zebelle interfered.

“You really don't like saying thank you. How arrogant of you.” Though she is right, she really loves annoying me.

“Zebelle, stop it,” Jay-ar said, his voice low but firm.

“Do you have no grounds just for a simple thank you? You are such a loser…”

President was now the one who objected to her and said, “Mind your words, Zebelle.”

“I am just telling the truth. She's too arrogant just because she is the principal's granddaughter… but I'm not seeing her arrogant past in my eyes. She needs to get slapped by it.”

“Then, you should face yourself in front of the mirror.”She scoffed in disbelief when I said that before I left them.

Zebelle is a self-proclaimed Campus Queen. She is widely known on campus—not for being an outstanding student, but because she’s treated like royalty. Even students from lower levels and different programs fear her. Still, some try to get close to her, mostly because of her wide connections.

Her father is one of the most powerful officials in this place, and that’s why Zebelle acts arrogantly around school. But she doesn’t like me—specifically, she doesn’t like Illeon. She hates her.

She once tried to connect with the school’s heiress, but the real Illeon is secretly both weak and prideful. Illeon hides her true condition—her hidden curse—and has already pushed people away to protect herself. She can't afford to form any more unwanted connections. But Zebelle didn’t accept it.

So, Illeon disregarded Zebelle’s efforts to get close to her—and that was enough to make her a target in Zebelle’s self-made domain. Illeon’s famous name wasn’t just earned through hard work or simply a perk of being the school’s heiress. In truth, Zebelle had even helped elevate her reputation, all to support the illusion Illeon wore like a mask.

Even though I’ve already taken Illeon’s place, I understand now why she never considered Zebelle as a potential friend.
