Cindy's hand which was about to pick her glass up froze and her heart skipped a beat. "Leaving? For two years?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper.
Olivia nodded, her expression apologetic. "I know, I know," she said quickly, reaching out to squeeze Cindy's hand reassuringly.
Olivia took a deep breath, her eyes locking onto Cindy's as she prepared to deliver the news. "Cindy," she began, her voice soft yet filled with conviction, "my mom got an incredible job offer to work as a doctor in another country."
Cindy's brows furrowed in confusion. "Another country?" she echoed, trying to wrap her mind around the sudden turn of events.
Olivia nodded, her expression serious. "Yes, it's a big opportunity for her," she continued, her words tumbling out in a rush. "And she wants me to go with her to help set everything up."
