What happened in the past?

Cindy and Alexander slept at the old house at the insistence of Alexander's mom. The room was filled with soft morning light as Cindy slowly woke up, feeling Alexander's warm presence beside her. They had slept in, comforted by the knowledge that Violet would make them breakfast.

Cindy turned to find Alexander watching her, his eyes filled with a soft, tender expression. "Good morning," he murmured, brushing a strand of hair from her face.

"Good morning," Cindy replied, a smile tugging at her lips. She took a moment to enjoy the peacefulness of the morning.

Alexander's arms tightened around her, pulling her closer. "How did you sleep?" he asked, his voice a low rumble.

"Better than I expected," Cindy admitted, her fingers tracing small patterns on his chest. "It's nice to wake up here, with you."

Alexander smiled, kissing the top of her head. "It feels good to have you here. It makes this old house feel like home again."
