As Chris struggled to free himself from the rope, Lillian waited patiently for everyone else to fall asleep. After an hour or so, when everyone had drifted off to sleep, she glanced around and tiptoed silently towards Chris. He looked up at her as he had already given up trying to free himself.
"Has my princess finally come to save her prince?" Chris joked as Lillian stood in front of him.
"Shut up and maybe I will." She snarked back.
Chris rolled his eyes and watched as Lillian pulled out a pocketknife and cut the ropes that bound Chris. He smiled and stretched, as he went to stand up, one of the teenagers began to stir. Lillian swiftly and quickly laid back down in her makeshift bed. As she laid down Leo sat up and looked around, as his eyes landed on the chair Chris should have been in, he gasped. Chris was nowhere to be seen; Leo frantically looked around.
"GUYS!" He yelled out waking up his sleeping friends.
"What bubba, we're trying to sleep?" Marrissa asked.
"I swear to God, if you say you need to go to the bathroom I'm going to kill you." Chase groaned.
"No. Chris is fucking gone!" Leo yelled.
Everyone quickly sat up and looked around, as they frantically looked around seeing Chris wasn't anywhere to be seen. Leo grabbed his shotgun and stood up looking around, he heard a laugh coming from the back of the room. He quickly spun around only to be met with the glowing green eyes of Chris. Leo gripped his shotgun tightly as he aimed it at Chris, he took a deep breath and put his finger on the trigger. Before he could shoot the same loud howl as before could be heard. It sounded way to close for comfort, as the teens heard the howl, they all jumped. Chris laughed as the sound of heavy footsteps could be heard growing closer. The group looked at Leo, they had no idea where to go, he was the only one who knew his way around.
"What do we do Leo?!" Chase yelled out.
"Leo English!!" Jake yelled at his friend, "You're the only fucking person here that knows Russian!!"
"Don't worry about what I said I'll tell you later, just follow me and stay close!" Leo said.
Leo ran to the corner of the room and ripped an old warn tarp off a shelf revealing his dads old hunting guns.
"Why the hell do you have all these?!" Chase yelled.
"Me and my dad used to go hunting every weekend before he got busy with work, we would stay at this cabin every time. Now hurry up and grab a gun. If you don't know how to use it me and Jake can teach you on the way back to town." Leo said quickly.
Everyone did as they were told and grabbed a gun, Leo grabbed a bag filled with ammo and knives and tossed it to Jake. Jake looked at Leo confused as he slung a gun and the bag over his shoulder.
"Why are you giving this to me?" Jake asked.
"Hold onto that it's filled with all sorts of knives and ammunition." Leo explained, as he ran over to another shelf.
"I know that but why?" Jake asked.
"I trust you with that, and I want you to hold onto it in case anything happens to me. Now hurry up and help me move this damned shelf!" Leo explained.
As the boys moved the shelf the others packed a few bags with food and water. Not knowing what would happen to them they wanted to be prepared. The boys moved the shelf out of the way to reveal a hidden door. Leo quickly unlocked the door and turned around looking at all his friends.
"Take this tunnel out, shut the door behind you. It leads to the well outside, climb up the ladder. Then run to the driveway and take a left, find the trail it will lead you back to the city. And stick on the trail! Stay straight don't make any turns or you'll get lost!" Leo explained as he heard the sound of the creatures howls and steps growing closer.
"What about you, bubba?" Marrissa asked.
"You're going to be with us right baby?" Christine asked worriedly.
"I'll catch up." Leo said as he kissed her. Just then a loud boom echoed through the room as the creatures tried to break down the door. "Now go!!" He yelled as he turned around and looked at the door. "I'll do my best to hold them back for as long as I can!"
"They are going to kill you man!" Jake yelled.
"Come with us!" Marrissa yelled.
"I'm a skilled fighter and my aim with a gun is perfect I'll be fine." Leo said as he hugged his friends. "You guys are like family to me and I refuse to see any of you hurt. NOW FUCKING GO!" Leo ordered.
Jake nodded as he heard the urgency in Leo's voice, he rushed his friends into the tunnel and slammed the heavy metal door behind him. Leo turned around and took a deep breath as he held his shotgun tightly to his chest. The monsters soon broke down the door and ran into the room, Leo's heart raced.
"What the fuck are you bitches?!" Leo yelled out.
The strange wolf like beings growled at him as Chris walked out of the shadows laughing.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" Chris said with a smirk.
He stared at Chris as the huge wolf like creatures circled around him, he aimed his gun at Chris and tried to steady his shaking hands.
"Ya know one of my friends likes to tell me stories about extinct animals, and those damned beasts behind you look a lot like what he described a dire wolf as..." Leo started as he placed his finger on the trigger. "Is that what they are?" He asked.
"Not quite." Chris said.
Leo scoffed and looked him dead in the eyes, "Then what are they?!"
Chris laughed and walked closer to Leo, "They are my friends, or I guess you could say they are my family. And they are what's going to kill you and everyone you care about. Ha, they already killed that bitch you call a little sister. Her screams were like music to my ears, you should have seen the look on her face. Hahaha! And to think all she wanted was to surprise you by coming to see you early-" Chris started.
"Shut up! SHUT THE FUCK UP!!" Leo yelled cutting him off.
Having heard enough he pulled the trigger shooting Chris in the head. As he watched his head be blown off, he reloaded his gun and shot at the beasts.
