As the others started to run down the tunnel Christine heard a loud yell come from inside the cellar. Christine recognized the yell as Leo's, she screamed and ran back to the door. She could hear the cries of her boyfriend as he yelled out in pain, the sound of ripping flesh could be heard from the other side. Tears streaming down her face, Christine pounded on the door. Jake caught her arm and pulled her into his embrace as she struck out at him. Meanwhile, her boyfriend was being torn apart by the creatures. Jake hauled Christine away, leading her through the tunnel.
"Come on Chrissy we have to go." Jake said.
Christine screamed, attempting to wriggle out of Jake's hold. "Let me go! They're killing him!" she cried out in desperation.
"He wouldn't want to see you killed by those fucking things!" Jake yelled.
Christine cried as she was dragged deeper into the tunnel, Jake attempted to disregard the pain in his chest while Christine kept struggling against his hold. Reaching the tunnel's end, Jake assisted a weary Christine as she climbed the well's ladder. Leo's screams of pain echoed through their heads as Megan helped everyone else. After climbing out of the well, Megan guided the group towards the driveway. She grabbed a flashlight out of her truck and turned it on.
"Why don't we just take the trucks?" Jake asked.
"You really are a fucking dumbass!" Chase yelled.
"What?!" Jake asked confused.
"The trucks would make too much noise. They would find us too fast!" Chase explained.
"Oh..." Jake said softly.
Megan rolled her eyes. "Just follow me," she insisted, "I doubt any of you remember what Leo told us before he..." Her voice faded into silence.
All eyes turned back towards the house in sorrow, while Christine gazed vacantly into the line of trees. Andrea walked with Christine as Megan led the group the way Leo had told them to go. While they were walking a loud scream echoed through the forest. Megan swiftly directed her flashlight toward the trees, and the beam revealed a set of glowing red eyes. Marissa screamed upon hearing a low growl emanating from the trees. Jake gripped his gun and shot at the beast as his friends took off deeper into the forest. He mumbled under his breath as they ran off the trail. He might have been stupid, but he clearly remembers Leo telling them to stay on the trail, or they would get lost. He let out a sigh and chased after them. Catching up quickly, he attempted to persuade them to return to the trail.
"Guys Leo said to stay on the trail!!" He yelled.
"Fuck that man those damned things are that way! I ain't going anywhere near that fucking trial!!" Chase yelled.
"You're going to get lost!" Jake yelled back.
He groaned, trailing his friends deeper into the forest when Christine stumbled and fell. Megan paused to help her up, then surveyed their surroundings. It was just as Leo had warned them—they were lost, with no sign of the trail in sight.
"Are we lost...?" Marrissa asked.
"I'm sure we'll find the trail if we just turn back." Andrea suggested.
Everyone began fighting as they all began to panic, Chase tried to calm everyone down. As they were all fighting another loud howl was heard, it was close. Too close, just then the sound of footsteps could be heard from their left. Megan shined her light towards the sound only to find another group. The people seemed older, most of them looked to be at least in their mid 20's while others looked to be around their age.
"Stay right there, or I'll shoot!" Megan exclaimed.
"Relax, we won't hurt you..." One of the older girls said softly.
She appeared to have an Irish accent, with long red hair and a tanned, freckled face.
"Why are you running...?" Megan questioned as she pointed her rifle at the group.
"We're running from those, things. They killed me father." The Irish girl said.
Megan slowly lowered her gun and looked at the group. She looked at them sadly before looking at her group.
"None of you are one of those things are you?" Jake asked.
The other group exchanged glances before looking back at the teens and shaking there heads. Before anything could be said another loud howl could be heard, this time closer. The Irish girl grabbed Megan's hand and led her deeper into the forest. Both groups following closely behind the two girls.
"We ran into a cabin a while back, at dusk. It looked abandoned we can hide there for a little while." She explained.
Megan nodded and followed the girl deeper into the forest, after a while the redhead looked around. She had no idea where she was going, she thought she went the right way. She groaned as she looked around, before looking to her left and walking deeper that way. The group knew they were being followed as the howls never grew too far away from them.
"Do you even know where you're going?! We've been running for hours so where's this cabin you were talking about!!?" Jake yelled at the Irish girl.
"I thought this was the way me and me group came from!" The Irish girl yelled back.
"So, we've been blindly following your stupid fucking Irish ass?!" Chase yelled.
"Shut up ya stupid fucking Mexican!" She yelled back.
"How do we know you ain't one of those beasts?! We've been following you for hours now and we still haven't learned you or anyone of your little 'friend's' names!! For all we know you could be leading us right to them!!" Christine yelled.
"Leave her alone! Yelling won't get any of us anywhere!!" A blonde girl yelled.
"Don't yell at her!!" Andrea yelled.
"Shut ya black ass up!" The Irish yelled back at Andrea.
Christine pointed the gun she was carrying at the girl and put her finger at the trigger. Before she could pull the trigger, a giggle was heard from behind the two groups.
"Well, this is entertaining." Lillian giggled, as she leaned against a tree.
