Lilly Anne

And with that, it was over. Roger turned to the group, offered a slight smile, then made his way to his truck in the driveway and drove away. Megan stared at the stake; the flames were dying off now. She watched as the flames disappeared, she walked over to her sister and fell to her knees. Tears fell as she watched Weather step outside. Her gaze followed the older woman as she untied the lifeless body of the younger girl.

"Come, we'll burry her with the others…" Weather said softly.

Megan looked at her blankly as she followed behind the lady. They buried her sister next to Adaline, Megan sat there for hours as she cried.

"If she ever wants to come see her sister, give us a call." Weather told Leo as she handed him a piece of paper.

Leo nodded and took the paper from her; her number was scribbled neatly on. A few hours passed as the group gathered their things. The group soon said goodbye to Weather and Oswin, while Andrea helped Megan up and brought her to the group. They walked into the forest; the trees didn't seem as thick anymore. They didn't even need their flashlights to see anymore. As they walked Megan couldn't stop thinking about the memories she had with her little sister.

"Hey Megs…" Christine spoke softly.

Megan looked at her blankly as she hummed softly in response.

"Weather told us to give you this. She said if you ever wanted to see your sister to give her a call…" Christine said softly as she handed her the paper.

Megan took the paper and nodded, she looked at the group sadly. Leo was helping Stacy walk, while Christine walked beside them. Andrea was talking with Chase as they walked, they made a cute couple. She wondered if Chase had finally confessed to her, after everything that had happened, she'd be surprised if he didn't. She then looked at June, she walked towards the front, alone. It appeared that she was concerned about something. But what? As Megan was lost in her thoughts Jake slowed down to walk beside her.

"Hey you, ok?" Jake asked her softly.

Megan looked up at him, "Huh? Oh yea. I'm fine." She said softly.

"I'm sorry about your sister…" he said.

"It's ok….I just wished it would have been me instead of her… you know?" She said sadly.

Jake wrapped an arm around her and rubbed her shoulder, "Yea…"

As they walked, they came across a clearing, the cabins could be seen in the background. A large old oak tree stood in the middle, the roots above the ground slightly. Was this clearing always here? June stared at the tree as she abruptly stopped walking. She stood there for a moment before running over to it, she dug through the roots to find a girl curled up inside. She pulled her out, her clothes were dirty and torn but there wasn't a scratch on her.

Chase ran over to June and the girl; he checked her pulse. It was weak and the girl was barely breathing.

"We need to get her to a hospital!" Chase yelled.

Jake lifted the smaller girl and brought her to Leo's truck. June climbed into the truck bed, and Jake took a seat next to her. As the others boarded the two trucks, June cast a worried glance at the girl.

"Do you know her?" Chase asked as he climbed into the bed of the truck with the others.

"She's my girlfriend…" June said sadly.

"What's her name?" Jake asked.

"Lilly Anne…" June said.

Chase nodded as Leo drove to the ER. Once they arrived paramedics rushed outside to help the girl. They saw Stacey and brought her inside to check on her wounds. While June and Leo went inside the others stayed outside talking.

"Do you think that girl will make it?" Christine asked.

"I'm not sure…" Chase said.

After a few hours Leo and June came back outside.

"So…" Megan spoke.

"They're both ok." Leo smiled slightly.

"How did that girl get there?" Jake asked.

"The doctors said we should ask when she wakes up." June said.

The group nodded and waited for a few moments before June looked at the time.

"I'm gonna head back inside and see if she woke up yet…" she said.

As June walked inside the room of the young girl her heart skipped a beat. The young girl was sitting up in the bed drinking water.

"Junebug!" The girl yelled happily as June walked in.

"Waterlily…" June smiled softly.

"I missed you…" The girl said.

"Lilly Anne, I need you to tell us what happened." A man asked.

June looked at him, "Please Waterlily, we need to know."

"Dad. You're not going to believe me." The girl, Lilly Anne, said.

"I will if he doesn't." June spoke.

Lilly Anne nodded and took a deep breath. "When I went outside to feed the horses the other day-" she started before her father cut her off.

"Lilly you've been missing for months…what do you mean by the other day?" He asked.

"What? No that can't be right. I swear I was only out there for a day or two!" Lilly Anne cried.

June shot the older man a disdainful glance before she turned her attention to Lilly Anne. "Go on love…" June said as she kissed Lilly Anne's forehead.

"When I went outside to feed the horses, I remember hearing a crying sound coming from the trees. I went closer to look, and I saw a girl crying. I was then picked up and moved somewhere, in what felt like a few minutes. After that it's all a blur, next thing I remember is being tangled up in the roots of a tree not being able to move." She explained.

"What else do you remember?" A nurse asked.

"There was this thing, it looked like a deer. But it stood up on its back legs. It could have passed as a tree, and that's what I thought it was at first." She explained.

"Is there anything else, that you can remember, try to explain how you felt." Another nurse said.

"I remember feeling cold and hungry. It felt like I had been there a few days and then I woke up here." Lilly Anne explained.

The nurses talked for a moment before coming back into the room and giving her a sad smile.

"You'll start therapy tomorrow." The nurse said.

"Therapy?! What do you mean therapy? You. You don't believe me, do you? I swear I'm not crazy!" Lilly Anne yelled.

"You were 8 miles away from where you went missing, dear. There is nothing in this world that can move you that far with your height and weight in only a matter of minutes." One of the nurses said.

They both gave her a soft smile as they left the room.
