Upon witnessing the death of the young girl who has been stranded away from her mother at the hands of the Demon Serve, there's a switch inside of him that made his mind completely turned blurry and blank.
It happened without him deliberately doing anything, it just happened in an instant.
Standing up with a firm step onto the pool of blood beneath his feet, Samael straighten his back before his intense glaring purple eyes train forward and straight at the Demon Serve that is still fighting with the Demon Imp.
But when it notices the glare, the Demon Serve's body stiffens out of instinct.
Even though her mind was clouded with the intent to kill and kill only, this time a sense of fear spreads throughout her mind and is being reflected by her body. A natural instinct that something would go bad if she stayed here for long.
Slash!
Catching the Demon Serve off guard, the Demon Imp managed to land a swiping attack.
The Demon Serve was sent crashing to the side with a gruesome wound across her chest. Despite the wound, she doesn't intend to keep on fighting and use the propelling momentum to escape the place.
Although she was decisive in wanting to escape, an ominous feeling suddenly arises within.
Glancing over her shoulder with her red eyes that have now devoid of killing intent, the Demon Serve widened her eyes when she saw a pair of deadly purple eyes closing in on her from behind rapidly.
It was Samael, and he was not going to let the Demon Serve escape like that.
Pointing his index finger right at the Demon Serve's back, Samael cast three consecutive Magic Bullet neutral spells that are enhanced by his demonic energy. The three bullets flew quickly and hits the Demon Serve right on her back and legs.
Bam!
Crash!
Feeling the sharp pain infiltrating her body, the Demon Serve whimpered in agony.
Stumbling in her standing, the Demon Serve slowed down for a couple of seconds and that is more than enough for Samael to reach her. "Infernal Swipe..." Samael cast a skill before his fingers concentrated with demonic energy.
Ducking low, he does a horizontal strike aiming for the Demon Serve's legs.
Slash!
Blood spilled everywhere as the Demon Serve's legs below the knee got completely sliced. For the first time throughout this incident, the blood that landed on the ground belongs to the Demon Serve instead of innocent civilians.
Just before she can fall stumbling to the ground, Samael already grabbed her by the head.
Upon feeling the hateful glare of the purple eyes behind her, the Demon Serve's body started trembling uncontrollably. Even when she was turned into a demon, the fear that arises inside of her causes a natural reaction from the body.
It was shocking to see that a maniacal killer like her can feel the emotion called fear.
Samael lifted the Demon Serve by the head until their head was at the same level, he was still standing behind her with a murderous expression on his face. No words came out of his mouth, and his mind is blank.
No visible traces of his disarray and chaotic mind can be seen on his face right now.
Compared to earlier when he was still chasing after the Demon Serve and feel a dilemma and become uncertain of what he was going to do, he completely turned into a different person. Each of his movements is precise and deliberate, far better than before.
Giving no mercy, Samael drove his fingers onto the Demon Serve's back with force.
Under the sheer strength inside his finger, Samael managed to embed his fingers into the Demon Serve's body and grab the tailbone inside of her. Without any hesitation, he then literally peel her spine out of her body.
A disturbing cracking sound resonates throughout the entire place, depicting the gore happening.
The Demon Serve was not able to do anything as her entire spine was ripped out of her body, leaving only her head attached at the end. With that kind of damage, even a Demon wouldn't be able to survive that.
Samael then lifted the spine to cast one last look before he threw it to the side.
Just as he did that, the fearsome glow in his eyes slowly subside and his mind started to recover once again. In a moment, Samael blinks his eyes a couple of times as he tries to regain back his control.
"W-What was that...?" Samael uttered out loud in sheer shock.
Even though he can feel the anger bubbling up inside of him earlier, the next thing that had happened was his body moving on its own without his control. It was a weird feeling, something that he doesn't like.
Although he can't control his body at that moment, he saw everything that occurred.
It was horrifying that his own two hands are capable of doing such a brutal act of killing, something that Samael wouldn't even think of doing to his worst enemies. And yet, he did just that right now.
Under the shock, he stumbles back and falls to the ground in disbelief.
Out of sheer instinct, he quickly opens his status window as he remembered the Anti-System telling him something about his insanity increasing due to the circumstance. If he had to guess, the Insanity stat must've reacted to his anger.
[Status Window]
Name: Samael Varius Molantar
Race: Greater Being
Level: 4 (25/400)
Anti-Level: 1 (0/100)
Insanity: 80% (44%)
Strength: 254 -> 256
Agility: 139 -> 141
Endurance: 354 -> 356
Intelligence: 300
Attributable Stats: 6 -> 9
Skill Points: -
Disregarding the increase in stats that he gained from reaching level 4, his eyes fixated straight on his Insanity stats that has changed tremendously. Previously it was 46%, but now it has become 80%.
Samael also frowns as he hasn't yet know what the 44% beside his Insanity stat represents.
[Notice: As previously explained, the Insanity stat is a measuring tool of the anti-host's mental status. The percentage in brackets compares the regular level and the anti-level, with every increase in the regular level decreasing Insanity by 2%, and an increase in the anti-level increasing it by 5%. Furthermore, emotions also play a role in determining the anti-host's mental status. Negative emotions will rise the Insanity stat while positive emotions will decrease it.]
Reading the explanation from the Anti-System, Samael can't help but frown.
It seems the anger that he felt from seeing the death of the young girl increases his insanity stat greatly and causes him to lose control over himself. The Anti-System has already told him before that he would become unstable the higher his insanity stat becomes.
Moreover, there seems to be a need for balance between his regular level and anti-level.
If he didn't pay attention to the balance of his regular level and anti-level, then the experience before, the other side of him that he never knew existed would come out frequently and that's not a good idea.
During his unstable condition, his body didn't hesitate in killing and that alone is terrifying.
'I've never thought that I would be terrified of myself...' Samael thought.
But as he now realized what had just happened, Samael took a moment to look around the place. Dead bodies, broken homes, and smeared blood that painted the walls and ground were the only thing left of this once vibrant with life city.
Everything that had happened to this city, he blames it on himself.
Now he knows the true nature of the Anti-System, he should've known what would've happened when he signed his soul to the Father of Darkness. Contrary to the System which is a force of good, the Anti-System is the opposite.
Of course, just like the Father of Darkness said, each is capable of doing the opposite.
Although that is the case, the normal deeds of the Anti-System were evil deeds. It has now become clear, Samael understands it clearly now and he can't help but shed a tear out of frustration.
This incident basically shows that he was forced to do evil or more evil is the consequence.
If he had taken out the group of people that are chasing him right there in the forest, no more than 30 people would've died. But instead, since he didn't do it, hundreds of innocent people were killed at the Demon Serve's lethal hands. Every unfortunate soul who had lost their life today has become his burden to bear.
Something like this is truly hurtful for him, and he now bears the full front of that pain.
For more than ten minutes he stayed at the center of the city square with tears wetting the ground, he was trying to accept that in order to reach his goals, he must consider something like this light.
'I-I can do this... for mother, father, and Lucius' Samael thought while wiping his tears.
Just as he started to reclaim back himself and accept what had already happened, Samael stands up when he sensed a couple of heartbeats closing in on him. Looking to the side, three figures appeared across him.
Compared to the regular citizen of the city, these people are giving off a different air.
Samael can also feel mana coursing inside of them showing that they are not regular people, but mages instead. Gazing around the place, the three mages were surprised by the condition of the city.
The three of them hasn't gone long, and they came back to this sight of slaughter.
With nobody else in the city except for Samael, the three mages directed their eyes at him as they clearly can only blame him for this situation. But their eyes widened realizing the color of Samael's skin.
Realizing no one else was in the slaughtered city but Samael, the three mages' eyes were directed at him, knowing that he must be responsible for everything that resulted in the city in this state. But their eyes widened when they saw his skin color.
"An Erovian...?" One of them commented, clearly shocked by the sight.
Another one also seems to nod in confirmation, the dark ashen color of Samael's skin clearly indicates that he's a juvenile Advanced Erovian with immunity against dark elements. A fearsome foe that can definitely cause destruction to this city.
But out of the three, one of them who has a bottle of alcohol in his hand squinted his eyes.
Peering at Samael who is now troubled as he feared the Anti-System would issue another Situational Quest again, the mage tilted his head a little as his eyes slowly widened as he seems to realize something.
Stepping away from the three mages, Samael then pleads, "Please, don't come near me!"
"A monster that wiped an entire city wanted to escape unharmed? Don't make me laugh, we're going to make you pay for what you have done to this place" One of the mages replied, showing clear hostility.
Upon seeing this, Samael started to feel helpless as the quest would definitely come.
Just as he was about to make a run for it before another Situational Quest has been issued, he saw one of the mages cloaking his arms with aerial wind intending to shoot it at Samael. In response to this, Samael raises his arms to block.
Since he has tough skin, he would block it before escaping the place.
But the attack that he expected to come never came, it's been more than a couple of seconds but he received nothing. Lowering his arms, he looked back at the mages before he sucked in a cold breath.
"W-What are you doing...?"
