Chapter 60

Siana was putting the finishing touches on the round bread bowls before she put them in the oven. Just before she slid the trays home and set the timer, the door in the front creaked open and she heard Naerin’s voice call for her.

“I’m in the back, Naerin.” Siana called back, pushing the trays into the oven and tossing the ice cubes in after them. “Be right there.”

She heard his voice again, but it wasn’t quite loud enough to understand with the whirring of the ovens. So she set her timers and headed out to the front. Naerin was standing in her cafe with a large, familiar pot that was steaming delicious aromas.

“You didn’t have to, I know you aren’t-“ Siana started, reaching to take the pot from him.

“It helped me keep my mind off of Naessa.” Naerin moved to keep the pot out of her reach. “It is quite hot, where would you like me to set it?”
