Celebration

Michael took a seat for himself right beside Kai "Hey Mike! How have you been?" Kai asked in greeting.

"I've been doing very good lately, I'm in a very good mood."

"What made you come here in the first place?" Kai looked at Michael with a suspicious look.

"Like I said, I'm in a good mood and thought celebrating alone would be.. subpar." "Here comes the rest."

Kai looked at the two women walking towards them, with a handsome looking man behind them.

Rose wore a navy blue dress, that hugged her body tightly and went down to her ankles, the dress also covered her upper body. Looking at her, Michael felt she was beautiful, but something didn't seem right, as if something was fake about her. Michael hadn't met her before, the only thing he knew about her was that she is the granddaughter of President Arthur.

Jessica walked on the right of Rose, wearing a green dress that reached below her knees and fully covered her upper body. Michael remembered Jessica as he had met her quite a few times, she is Kai's childhood friend. She seems to care a lot about Kai, but she always had a cold impression on her face, barely showing any emotion.

Behind them was a handsome guy that wore a red suit jacket and a blue dress shirt, with a tuxedo and black pants. Michael remembered Nathan as an extreme playboy, no matter where you go with him. You would eventually find him talking to women, most of the time going home with them.

The two girls sat opposite to us, and Nathan sat adjacent to me and Kai. Once everyone sat down, Kai clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.

"Alright, now that everyone is here, we can start ordering. Everything will be on me, I wont take no for an answer, I got sponsorship deals with some companies after I broke the world record, so I'm filthy rich. Now let me introduce to you my friend here called Michael, you can just call him Mike if the long name bothers you. I'm too lazy to go into more details you guys talk to each other and figure out more about the other."

Looking at Michael, Rose felt a weird feeling coming from him. She knew this feeling very well, but it should be impossible for Michael to have it. Rose thought to herself that maybe she's just not thinking straight. but she decided to ask anyways.

"Hey Michael, I'm curious, where were you born? you don't look from around here." Michael responded.

"Really? I've never been asked that, but I was born here in this city, both my parents were also born here."

"May I take your order?" A waiter walked up to us and asked. Looking over at the menu, I didn't know what to order. I rarely ever go to a restaurant, let alone one as fancy as this. Most of these words I haven't even heard of them my entire life.

Kai and Jessica ordered roasted steak marinated in pineapple juice, with rice. Nathan ordered a fried chicken sandwich with ranch and hot sauce. Rose ordered a beef shawarma with tahini and hot sauce.

'What do I order?!' Michael felt overwhelmed by the amount of options, as well as the amount of money. While he had a good amount of money from the refund from the university, he was still a cheapskate at heart. Mostly because growing up, Michael and his mom were barely making ends meet, and were constantly half starving, so Michael almost never got to pick food, it was always up to his mother.

This all happened when Michael's dad, Damien, the main breadwinner of the house, unfortunately died in a car accident while coming home from work. Michael at the time was 4 years old.

After 10 seconds of Michael not saying anything, the atmosphere got a bit awkward.

"He will have chicken shawarma with tahini sauce." Rose said.

Turning towards me, Rose said. "Don't worry, I promise it will taste good."

"Why can't a beautiful lady order for me? This is so unfair." Nathan said in a sad tone.

Everyone giggled at his ridiculous statement.

"Maybe if you weren't such a womanizer you would have a woman stay and take care of you." Jessica said.

'Hanging out with a group like this... its very fun, I should this more often' Michael thought to himself.

Eventually the meals arrived, and everyone started to dig into their food.

'This is food is so good, Rose was right.' Michael thought as the food made him feel euphoric.

Rose giggled as she said. "Based on your expression, I got it right."

"You sure did, this food is amazing." Michael responded in-between bites. For the rest of the night, the group celebrated Kai's record, and had lots of fun.

For Michael, it was one of the most enjoyable times for him, he couldn't remember the last time he had gone out with a group of people like this. It was now time for everyone to go home, Nathan as usual had walked up to a table with two girls, and went home with both of them. Michael had no idea how this man's magic worked. Kai drove home with Jessica, It made sense as they were neighbours.

'Time to go home.' Michael got out of the restaurant and waved for a taxi, as he was about to go in.

"I'm sorry, we don't have a need for a taxi anymore." Rose said as she closed the passenger door and pulled me away. The driver chuckled at this and drove away.

"Why would you do that?!" Michael was annoyed, he got very lucky finding a taxi straight away, at this time taxis are very rare to find.

"I will drive you home, my car is over there." Rose said as she pointed to her BMW.

"That won't be necessary, I can go home on my own."

Michael didn't even know what type of BMW that was, but it sure as hell looked expensive. As expected from the granddaughter of the president of a university.

"I insist."

Seeing the stubborn look on Rose's face, Michael decided to save himself a headache and agree.
