49TH GEAR - ATTACK PATTERN ULTIMATE OMEGA!

49TH GEAR - ATTACK PATTERN ULTIMATE OMEGA!

Fweeeeeeeet!

This is the second day of the Regional Speedmage Tournament. The echo of the whistle rebounds around the arena as the start of the Second Round commences. It may be a stroke of luck or just pure coincidence, but Flu's match is right at the very first. It was the most beneficial for us as Flu was able to sleep early yesterday, and she has her full energy for this Speed Battle.

"Wind Accel!" Flu touched her shoes, and a strong gust of wind boosted her run!

"Psycho Accel!" The opponent Yurika Frembell had a split-second late start with his psychic magic. The moment the Psycho Accel activated, the opponent floated via telekinesis!

Fluo's opponent: Yurika Frembell is a girl with purple hair tied in twin buns. She is wearing a red and gold oriental dress that served as her Speedmage Suit, and her Speedmage Shoes is the Cyclops model- a pair of purple boots with a creepy eye on its toe cap. Cyclops are optimized for Striker Speedmages because of their incredible control, but it sucks in terms of speed.

"Flu, don't engage in a tag fight and focus on scoring by the Checkpoint Towers!" I spoke through the mic.

"Yes, Coach!" Flu happily answered. I guess she had a good night's rest to have that kind of energy.

Since Counters can beat Strikers in terms of speed, we will utilize it to win this fight.

After a few seconds, the pink contrail managed to close in the 2nd Checkpoint Tower!

Beep!

Point for Fluonessia, at 1:0!

"Now go for the next one!" I said.

"Yes, Coach!" Flu said as she drifted around the 2nd Checkpoint Tower and then continued to run with her Wind Accel!

Yurika was just three seconds behind, and she managed to touch the 2nd Checkpoint Tower.

Beep!

Point for Yurika, now tied at 1:1!

I have never seen lots of Speedmages using psychic magic as their accel spell, but I just realized that Yurika's movements are more precise even though it lacks speed. Because she is floating via midair and is controlled by her mind, her control over her turns, maneuvers, and dashes would be like playing a video game just by using your brain.

"Hahaha! That's not all Yurika can do, magicless one."

A deep voice entered my right ear. It was the opponent's navigator, General El Torro. He is a well-known esper and a military officer of a small nation. He is even wearing his brown military uniform with several stars on it.

General El Torro is a macho man in his mid-forties, and he has this square jawline that looked like he can have a chomping contest with an alligator. His face is a little bit wrinkled, and the most terrifying thing on his face is his glowing purple eyes.

Wait, how did he know that I am magicless?

"I can read your mind, magicless one. And that is also one of the many psychic abilities of Yurika. She can read Fluonessia Asahime's mind." General El Torro said to me.

Well, that will be a problem! I won't be able to give commands to Flu without hiding my plans against the opponent!

"That is right, Jonathan Wardenorth. I know that you are the key to Fluonessia Asahime's win during the first round. Whatever your plan is, I will know it, and I will have a counter for it." The psychic general said.

Shit! This creepy old man had me cornered!

"I am not a creepy old man!" General El Torro cried. That's what he gets for reading my mind.

Beep!

I looked back at the Triangle and saw that Flu already touched the 3rd Tower. The score is now at 2:1 with Flu in the lead, but the real Speed Battle starts now. Yurika is levitating telekinetically before the 1st Checkpoint Tower. Flu will have to pass through this ambush before scoring another point.

"Coach! What should I do!?" Flu asked me with a hint of concern in her voice.

"Do it," I said.

"Do what?" Flu tilted her head.

"Do the Attack Pattern Ultimate Omega!" I said.

"A-Attack pattern ultimate- what?" Flu cried. "I-I'm sorry! What was that again?"

"Do whatever you feel like it!"

"Roger that coach!" Flu smiled as she dashed forward at full speed!

I believe that this will be the course of action. If I give advice to Flu, General buff meatball right here would just read my mind and counter it. I will just let Flu play as she pleases to minimize the risk of being outplayed.

"I am not General buff meatball! I am General El Torro!" The opponent navigator cried.

I just ignored him and focused on spectating the Speed Battle. Flu's pink contrails were made in a straight line, and there is no hint of slowing down. Meanwhile, Yurika stretched her hand and feet like a goalkeeper, ready to block Flu's path!

"You shall not pass! I will know if you are going for a feint or whatever! I can read your mind, totally!" Yurika shouted.

Two hundred meters before they clash. Flu has yet to give a hint of her slowing down.

One hundred meters before they clash, and Flu has no signs of doing a feint whatsoever! She's diving straight into the enemy!

"Eh!?" Yurika uttered.

"Get out of the waaaay!" Flu cried as she closed her eyes while rushing towards the enemy!

Boom!

It was a direct collision, and both Speedmages are launched in opposite directions because of the repelling effect of their magical barriers!

"Gah! What a reckless and thoughtless charge! Totally!" Yurika cried. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised that Flu was going at it again!

"I-I'm sorry! Please get out of the way!" Flu cried as she jumped on an Air Trampoline!

"W-Waaaah!" Yurika shrieked as she just covered her face with her arms as a defense mechanism.

However, Flu did not fly to Yurika. She was going towards the 1st Checkpoint Tower, maybe just by dumb luck or poor aim! At this point, I don't know what's going on with Flu's mind either!

Beep!

The 1st Checkpoint Tower was touched by Flu, and now the score is 3:1!

Flu drifted once again and continued to run towards the 2nd Checkpoint Tower!

"W-What the hell is wrong with you, Yurika!? You should have known that she was going to the checkpoint tower!" General Psycho yelled through the mic.

"I have no way of knowing! I can't read her mind! Totally!" Yurika cried.

"What!? What do you mean that you can't read her mind!?" General buff meatball said.

"She has no plans in her head whatsoever! Her head is like, just air! Totally!" Yurika complained.

"I-Impossible!" General jawline hollered.

Well, let me tell you a simple solution. You can't read minds if your opponent has no mind. Flu is just doing what she felt like it, and she is acting on pure instinct.

"Shut up! And stop calling me 'General Something'! Call me by my name, even just inside your mind!" General El Torro groaned.

Beep!

Flu has touched another Checkpoint Tower, and now the score is 4:1!

With another drift, Flu continued her marathon with her Wind Accel! And now Yurika is guarding the 3rd Checkpoint Tower, ready for an ambush!

"You will not get away from me, not this time! Totally!" Yurika yelled as she spread her hands and feet.

"I-I'm sorry!" Flu cried once again as she pushed on her gas and gain a lot more speed! She seemed to be about to recklessly collide with the enemy again!

"I came prepared for that, totally!" Yurika smiled as she created a purple magical circle filled with psychic energy. "Psycho Shield!"

Psycho Shield is a barrier spell that absorbs all the impact and returns it to the attacker. It is not really a speed spell, but it was useful if the user is in actual combat. Yurika must have thought that she might be pushed away by the head-on collision once again.

However...

"Yaaaaah!" Flu cried with her eyes closed. She just depended on luck, and her direction slightly changed because of the random footsteps she took!

"Ah!" Yurika gasped as Flu passed right on her shoulder.

But then-

Beep!

A pink magical circle point indicator manifested on Yurika's back!

Point for Fluonessia, now at a massive lead of 5:1!

"Gah! She struck me in the rear unknowingly!?" Yurika cried.

"I-I'm sorry! I felt like running like a ninja, so I spread my arms on my back!" Flu apologetically smiled, but she continued to run towards the 3rd Checkpoint Tower!

"What a free-spirited Speedmage, totally!" Yurika roared as she tried to chase after the fleeing pink-haired idiot.

However, since Counter Speedmages have better speed stat over Striker Speedmages, Yurika was unable to catch up. I don't know if it's dumbness or luck again, but Flu bumped into the 3rd Checkpoint Tower with her head because she was not looking in front while she runs!

"Gahack!" Flu cried as about a hundred thousand of her brain cells died because of the thoughtless running.

Beep!

Point again for Fluonessia, now at 6:1!

Fweeeeeet!

The referee finally sounded the whistle and raised his hand to make a proclamation. "The winner of this match is Fluonessia Asahime!"

The crowd cheered after witnessing a brain-dead match, but it was spectacular and eye candy. Flu approached me with a dumb smile on her face while waving her hand.

"I won coach! I wo-huaaaahck!" Flu tripped on her foot, and she kissed the ground with a bang!

I immediately grabbed a spray-type potion and crouched. "Yeah. Congratulations on your second win, Flu!"

"Thank you so much- Aaaaaah!"

I did not finish her gratitude speech as I immediately sprayed the potion straight on her face.

I was not even a little bit worried about Flu's fight as I trust her instincts in Speed Battles. What I'm worried about is our next match.

Ericka is about to face the last year's Speedmage Champion. She has definitely improved both physically and mentally, but having their rematch in the second round of the tournament seemed a bit much.

I just hope our Useless Prez can pull out a miracle to win.
