Hunter's State

L's mocking laughter echoed through the phone, causing Yuki's brows to furrow in annoyance. "You should see your face, Yuki," L taunted.

Yuki's gaze darted around, his instincts on high alert. Chloe noticed his unease and questioned, "What's wrong?"

Yuki hesitated before replying, "Nothing."

Chloe pressed further, "Who's on the phone, Yuki?"

Yuki's voice was tense as he responded, "It's L."

Chloe's confusion was evident. "Wait, what?"

Yuki puts the phone on speaker. L's voice carried a hint of amusement. "No need to be surprised, Chloe. Yes, it's me, L. I'm far away from you guys, or am I?"

Yuki's patience waned. "Enough with the games, L. What do you want?"
