Chapter 61 - Challies and the King and Crowned Prince of Vanworth

Third person POV

Later, after lunch, at 3 in the afternoon, the horse wagon had arrived at Challies, a major and walled city and center of trade and administration in Vanworth. Once the city guards opened the huge gates, the horse wagon went in and the gates were closed. Inside within the city walls, Robert and his party saw that the city was like any other major city. That is, until, along the way, they, Colt, and the driver witnessed a public execution of a commoner in front of a crowd.

They were surprised and shocked to see that, with Robert commenting, "What that guy did to deserve that?"

"No idea," William responded back.

Then, the trapdoor was opened and the man was hanged to death, causing the crowd to gasp in shock.

"Wow, I think the reality of living in this kingdom is a cruel one," Robert thought to himself.

Then, the sight of the execution deteriorated as the horse wagon went farther and farther, but this sight was never forgotten by Robert and his group.

Not long after, they had arrived in front of the castle of Tertullian, where a group of soldiers and a red carpet was waiting for them.

As soon as the horse wagon pulls over, the red carpet was rolled over to give them a warm welcome. Robert and his party then get off and walked towards the entrance of the castle as Robert's hood of the cloak was off, displaying the emblem of his clan to those who see it.

Shortly thereafter, inside the court of the castle, trumpets were blown, signaling the arrival of the temporary emissaries from Saverfort, but Tertullian and Arnold seemed to be annoyed and a bit distressed of their arrival.

As soon as they approached the foot of the elevated steps, Robert and his party kneeled before them on one knee, before Robert would say, "Greetings, Tertullian-sama."

Sitting on his throne while observing their submission, Tertullian responded, "What do we have here? A bunch of kids, serving as emissaries? Where are the real ones?"

"My apologies, they got sick of a fever and couldn't do their duties," William replied back on his kingdom's behalf, "so my father had improvised, and me and my friends became the temporary emissaries to this kingdom."

But, Arnold was staring at Robert seriously and sternly, causing Robert to be afraid of him.

He and his party then stand up.

"What do you want at this hour?" Tertullian asked the purpose of their arrival.
