Chapter 153 – Powerup

Third person POV

Later, at 10:11 a.m., in a room in an inn in the city, that spy and his two fellow spies are communicating with Tertullian via a magical device, informing him of Harold's whereabouts and current status.

"What? He lost?" the king of Vanworth asked him.

"Yes, but he didn't care at all," the spy responded as his face was obscured by a hood.

"That's embarrassing our family name!" Tertullian responded with anger.

Sevan was at the king's court with Arnold standing.

"Okay, thank you," Tertullian said to his spies, before ending the call.

After that, he turned towards the two men and commanded, "Set an assassination plot on Harold!"

While Sevan was shocked, Arnold obeyed him absolutely without a second thought.

"He's in Taka now," Tertullian continued on. "Go and kill him."

"Yes, father," Arnold replied. Then to Sevan, "Let's go."

"R-Right, sir!" Sevan stammered, before he and Arnold left the court.

But as he walks with the crowned prince, Sevan became a bit worried about Harold, thinking, "I need to tell Luke about this!"

But when this will happen?

Meanwhile, back at Taka's palace estate, in the guesthouse, two royal nurses are treating William's and Harold's injuries with wet cloths mingled with a soothing ointment while Robert and the others are drinking glasses of hot tea served by the palace servants. The Fukui family are still at the arena watching the tournament, and they will be back at the end of the day.

"That young man is so rude and prideful," Peter commented while in a disgusted and upset state. "He just insulted the prince of Vanworth."

"He is probably spoiled," Emma added. "I think I'll battle someone this afternoon."

To that Sol gave her a piece of paper containing the list of battles that will happen in the afternoon.

She then grabbed it and reads it, only to see that she had a battle with none other than Robert himself.

"What? Why do they put me with that brat at 2 o'clock?" she asked.

"I don't know." Sol shrugged. "That's how they put it."

"Their matching system is so rigged!" she tossed the paper in front of Robert. "I can't believe this!"

Upon seeing it, Robert picks it up and search for his next opponent scheduled at 1.

He then saw that his opponent is a swordsman named Lain Basel, who was from Vanworth.

"Ooh, someone from Vanworth," he commented.

"Yes, he'll be your opponent," Sol responded.

"Okay, so that means that I have to defeat him so I could battle Emma-chan, right?"

"Robert!" Emma reacted to this.

"Yes, and if you lose," Sol replied back, "then you're out and Emma will battle someone."

To that Emma scoffed. "I hoped you'll lose."

"That's not nice, Emma-chan," Zarah responded to this.

"Okay!" Robert responded readily. "I'll do my best and defeat that Lain guy!"

"What?" Emma thought in her mind in shock.

By that time, the two nurses finished treating the two princes' bruises, and they said to them, "It's now done. I suggest you should stop training physically and rest, okay?"

"Yes," William responded.

"Thanks." Harold bowed his head a bit in gratitude.

With that the two nurses stand up, grabbed their small chests of medicine, and left the guesthouse as Sol said thank you to them.

"So, would like some food for snacks?" one of the servants asked them. "We recommend sweet mochi or mini rice cakes."

"Sure, a plate of mochi, please," Robert responded politely.

"Me too!" Emma added.

"Make it three plates, please," Sol made the final order.

"Okay, sir," the same servant replied, before he and his fellow servants left to the palace kitchen to ask the palace chefs to make the food for them.

Later, at 10:43 a.m., Robert and his group are now eating fresh white mochi coated with a thin layer of white powdered sugar complete with drinks consisted of green macha tea. As they eat and drink, Sol, who had seen Sora's ability and had known about that before, decided to bring that topic to their conversation, and so Robert and his friends would watch out for that as well.

"That young samurai...," Sol started out, "...he used an ability known as Powerup."

Robert and the others then stopped eating and looked at him with a surprised look on their faces.

Gulping his food, Peter commented, "Powerup? What's that?"

"It's a secret clan technique that allows the user to boost their non-magical attacks with a surge of mana intake," Sol explained. "That can be only passed down to those within the clan known as the Kawasaki clan."

"Oh, right!" Robert responded in connecting the dots. "I heard that his last name is Kawasaki."

"Yes, and that is powerful," Sol replied back, "but it depends on how much mana was used."

They then get what he had said.

"So, if you are going to battle someone like Sora," Sol said to them, "you should be familiar with his ability at any time. If you see his ability being big, I suggest dodging rather than trying to block his attack. That'll be worse if you try blocking him."

To that Robert and his friends jotted down notes on their leather notepads with charcoal pencils.

"That's absolutely make sense," Blaise commented. "Dodging perfectly matches the attack that is big."

"Yes, that'll be a good way to counterattack him," Sol replied back.

"I see," Robert replied.

He then thought, "This world had a lot of clever techniques and abilities to imagine about."

After that, they rested and passed the time by going around the palace estate's gardens.
