Chapter 154 – Robert vs. Lain

Third person POV

Later after a hearty lunch, just before 1 o'clock, Robert and his group went back to the plaza arena just in time for Robert's fight with Lain, a swordsman of noble birth from Vanworth. William and Harold, on the other hand, couldn't go because they needed some rest in order to recover. The afternoon's weather is partially cloudy. There Robert, Peter, Zarah, and Emma are now back at the back rooms for the upcoming rounds while Blaise and Sol are in the audience expecting his fight.

Then, that round has come. Once the gates are opened, Robert and Lain came out to face each other, before the gates would shut, locking them in battle. Robert then looked around to see just how many people are there at that time.

"Are you from a clan or something?" Lain asked him plainly, as if he wasn't prideful at all.

This breaks Robert's looking around, and he looked at him in response.

"Uh, yes?" he answered.

"I see, a noble one?" Lain asked back.

"Not strictly," Robert replied back, "but it has some prominence in my kingdom's society."

He then thought, "He's not arrogant at all."

"I see," Lain responded. "What clan?"

"The Lightningheart clan."

"Woah, that clan from Saverfort?"

"Yes, in my father's side."

"Okay, I see."

And so, their fight had begun, and the host shouted, "Fight!"

Lain goes first with his sword and charged towards Robert.

Robert then retaliated by pointing his katana at him and used Lightning Rod, electrocuting the swordsman a lot.

"Is that...?" Lain asked as he felt the pain of being electrocuted, "...Lightning Rod?"

"Yes, this is one of our clan's signature techniques," Robert confidently, "and it requires a metal object to conduct electricity."

Lain then managed to get up and responded, "Wow, that's amazing."

He then became enthusiastic at this fight, confusing Robert a bit.

"I want to know more about you!" he said to him.

"What?" Robert commented.

"Let's just get over with this, okay?" Lain brightly responded.

"O...kay?" Robert replied slowly.

He then thought again, "What's up with that guy?"

At that point, Sol commented to Blaise, "This guy wants to understand about your younger brother."

"Yeah, I saw that," Blaise replied.

Back at the fight, Lain fights Robert with his sword shrouded in aura magic, but Robert kept on dodging his attacks in quick succession. He then throws a Lightning Ball at him, and Lain got hit in the back. But still, Lain was up, and tried to retaliate, but Robert blocked his attack with his katana.

"You seemed to be not prideful, aren't you?" Robert asked him while trying to maintain his stance.

"Nope, not at all," answered Lain back, before managing to push Robert out, but the latter managed to not fall back.

"Because of my kingdom's arrogance," he continued on, "I learned to do the opposite."

"Oh, you mean being nice and humble?" Robert asked him.

"Yes, exactly," Lain responded, before trying to finish Robert off by knocking him out.

But, Robert decided to use his powerful, signature ability, Thunder Storm. And so, he did, and lightning rained down on Lain.

But, shockingly, Lain blocks it with Aura Shield, a Tier-5 aura magic, and this surprises Robert and his group and headmaster.

"What?" Peter commented.

"Hmm, that's Aura Shield," Sol commented casually.

"He must come from a few clans that used that kind of magic."

He then turned to Blaise and asked her if she still remember that back at her school days.

"Yes, still in my memory," Blaise replied back.

Back at the fight, Lain still blocks Robert's attack, but Robert decided to retaliate by increasing the amount of man into his Thunder Storm. This time, Lain's Aura Shield broke, and he got electrocuted severely. He then dropped his sword and collapsed to the ground. But, this consumes the majority of his mana so Robert fainted on the spot. This causes the audience to gasp at this near draw.

"Oh, no, Lightningheart Robert had fainted!" the host announced. "It seems we had to change some things in our future rounds, everyone."

But, based on the timing, Robert wins the round, causing Emma to be chagrined at her failed plan.

The host also announced this too.

"Now I have to battle that annoying pest!" she thought angrily.

And so, because of this, both Robert and Lain were taken to the arena's medical clinic so they would recover and restore their mana.
