Chapter 4: Duties of a class president

Date: 12-03-2015

My life went on well as much as I can remember. My study group and school kept me busy. Especially my school.

I was a class president which means I had duties as a class president. My problem was I didn't know them and how to fulfill them.

Rijon was a friendly person and he gave me an explanation.

Basically my duties were first and foremost help our homeroom teacher maintain class probably.

On that note I had to report any misbehaving students. Which students were bad at which subjects and which students were good at which subjects.

Another duty was to negotiate with the homeroom teacher on behalf of the students for example leave of absence, sick leaves, scholarship, sports, which place to choose for school tour etc. I even had to help some students at subjects they were bad at. For these reasons I didn't have any rest in school. Fortunately Rijon helped a lot though for some reason boys preferred asking me for help instead of him. When asked why they said they didn't seem to trust him.

So I used to meet many teachers for many things. Most of my pleas or inquiries on behalf of the students took me to the vice dean and after more than twenty times he remembered me very well. At first I had to argue with the clark but after so many times the clark seems to have given up and let me meet the vice dean without much difficulty.

Rijon for all his friendliness avoided talking to most teachers he seemed afraid to say something wrong so that part I had to do myself.

Then came the most headache-inducing thing for me choosing the school tour location because even though there were many options they mostly boils down to four choices mountains, ocean, historical location, scientific location. Because this was a student's choice teachers didn't have any say in this and that was a problem. As a matter of fact I could say that most students didn't want anything to do with historical locations or scientific locations which leaves us ocean or mountains and I preferred mountains. In fact I didn't care where we went except for the ocean. I didn't know how to swim and any person who doesn't know how to swim most of the time always has fear of drowning. I didn't want to go to the ocean.

I could somehow convince my class to go to the mountains but the school tour was for the whole grade meaning I had to convince four other classes. How do I do that.

I first had to check with other class presidents about the situation. After going class to class I found one other class which wanted to go to the mountains. It means I was losing. Then I thought about Shimanto maybe he can help. I went to his class and found his class president after chatting with him for a few minutes I told him that I needed to talk to Shimanto and take him to the vice dean. Which was a lie but who would find out. I took Shimanto to the bathroom he seemed confused but I didn't have time for that so I told him to spread all the stories he could make up about mountains in his class. He had clarity in his eyes and nodded without any hesitation. I also told him to say that we went to the vice dean's office then I left him to do his job and hope it gets the job done.

The next day I was nervous about the situation so very stiff the whole day. After school homeroom teachers of our grade called all the class presidents and asked for the results. For my class I politely notified them that most students of my class want to go to the mountains. Now I was waiting and my waiting was not pointless as Shimanto's class president told the teachers about going to the mountains. I was very much relieved.

But all my hope was shattered when the rest of the presidents told their class decisions. They all wanted to go to the ocean. I was shocked because I had already found out that one other class wanted to visit the mountains.

So I asked the class president what happened and she said most girls wanted to go to the ocean and what about the boys well they were convinced by the girls.

I was very disappointed that day I just didn't think they would change their decision well I did change one of the classes'decisions but I didn't consider it could happen to other classes too. That negligence cost me my trip to the mountains.
