Chapter 38

Third POV

"You are all fired! I have no idea why I even paid you that much to lose a being as weak as that woman, Damn it!" Rage expressed itself very well with how he spoke to them.

It was technically impossible to lose a woman without even them noticing. Anahi, the most stubborn woman he had ever encountered with. She never knew rules or how to bend on. She never stoped fighting for what she thought was right even though it was somewhere very near impossible.

One minute, she is brought at home and the next two hours, she is gone already and she goes missing for the next two weeks, this time without any clue where she could have gone to. Everything including her phone was left inside her bedroom.

Regina on the other hand, was on the edge of a knife. She knew exactly where her daughter was. Correction, she knew exactly the condition her daughter was in. A condition she put her daughter into. It's been more than a week and her condition doesn't get anywhere near better.

Arletta was not at ease either. She had a hunch what her mother could have done to her sister as it is not possible for her to escape with that condition.

She did everything she could to trace her mother but she was untraceable. Her movements were very carefully planned and that's how she was able to stay this long without being noticed.

Another night like any other, Regina was done with her works and was ready to go to church to pray before going home. Arletta was also done with her works. She had her own small business of jewelry and that is what she focused most of her energy on.

This was one of the days she felt so down. Her heart kept aching for her sister. As long as she knew she was under the care of the monster in the shape of a woman, she knew Anahi was not in a good condition.

She was never the person to go to church unless it was Sunday. She felt horrible praying to God while she made people who worked for him sin in the name of temptation and desire. Today was different. It wasn't about her. It was about her sister. She didn't deserve what she got.

Her gold necklace shined well with an off-sholder white shirt with long sleeves that touched her skin. The shirt was tucked in a black skinny jeans with white high heels. Her hair was waist long and blonde. Her face almost had no make up.

She got inside her car and went to the small catholic church she usually preferred to go since the one near her house made her meet the two fathers, and then she'd only think of sinning.

Reaching the church, whose texture resembled that of old castle. She parked her car on a parking lot near the road then hoped out and went inside the church. She went in front of the alter and knelt on the floor. She made her prayers for minutes and without realizing it, she was already crying. She felt guilty.

It's like it was her that Anahi that was being punished for. She was a bigger sinner that was not yet caught. If anyone still deserved that kind of punishment, it'd be her.

After some time, she went outside and was ready to leave. Still sobbing in her car, her eyes suddenly landed on a person whose face was quite familiar.

"Mother," Regina never went to small churches. She fancies fancy material. Big churches were her thing. So what was she doing there? She hoped out of her car, "Mother?" She shouted.

Regina's eyes were looking at the church, almost escaping their sockets at the voice of her daughter. She felt Arletta getting near her. She breathed as calm as possible before turning around, "I didn't know you came to church even during weekdays," She faked a smile.

"You are right," She sighs, "It's not my thing," Regina kept looking at her. Her smile keeps demanding more explanation.

"What mother?" Arletta rolls her eyes, "I came here because I miss my sister. She could be in danger," Both of them change expressions. Arletta was sad. Regina's eyes screamed fear.

"I too came here for that," She says, "I have no idea what to do with her. After everything I have done," She shakes her head faking a disbelief, "How could she escape with all those wounds?" she crosses her arms as she looks at her.

"Mother, you were the last person she was with. How did you let her escape you? Before this, She was able to escape from all those guards, but not you,"

"I know. I have no idea either,"

" And where were you? You said you were going to teach her a lesson," Regina looked away. Where were they? Should she tell her the truth?

"Well, I don't think that matters anymore, Arletta," She sighs, "You just reminded me what I had to do to my own daughter to get her to be on a straight line,"

"There is one thing you are not getting, mother," Regina looks at her, "Anahi's definition of straight line differs from yours,"

"Arletta! I cannot believe you are defending your sister knowing what she is doing," She says in disbelief. Arletta looks down before looking at her again.

"Have you ever thought maybe if you gave her a chance to make the most important decisions of her life, maybe, you would not experience what you are experiencing right now? That maybe you would not have to hurt your own daughter?"

"She was the one who made a choice. I only persuaded her to follow it!"

Arletta shakes her head in disbelief, crossing her arms, "We both know you didn't like his brother because you were tricked into thinking he was the illegitimate brother,"

"Shut up, Arletta!" She shouts. One of the few times she was tricked which makes her so angry everytime she thinks of it, "I don't care how Carlos was born. He is the husband of my daughter and the only man with the right to touch her,"

"Mother, stop it. You are hurting my arms!" Arletta hated it when her mother squeezed her because she spoke the truth. It hurt her wrist, and it would sometimes leave her red marks and breathing pain.

"Then don't speak something I would not like to hear," She lets go.

"I am going home first," Arletta leaves. Her breathing becomes normal the further she gets away from her mother. She looks at her one more time before she hops into her car, "Fuck!" She slams the door and hold the steering wheel. She turns in the engine and leaves.

The next day. She wakes up earlier than usual because of piles of works but partly because she didn't want to see someone she was still mad at.

At 6.30 she was almost ready to go in her long nude pink wrapped around skirt along with 6 inch mule heels. The was finishing the last piece of the puzzle with milky white v off-shoulder when her mother opens the door of her room.

"Knocking is an important manner,"She rolls her eyes when she sees her mother from her mirror.

"Good Morning. " She smiles.

"Good Morning, mother,"

"You look beautiful today. Shall I choose a jewelry for you?" She steps closer and opens one of the drawers, taking a necklace and a pear of earrings both gold. She helps her with the necklace while Arletta wears the earrings.

"I'm sorry. I was not fair yesterday. Everything that's happening right now just stresses me out a lot."

"It's okay mother, I understand. And we will talk later, I have to go," She forces a smile and places a soft kiss on her mother's cheek.

Reaching the office, the milky white texture of the office gives her the welcoming feeling and a working vibe until one of her assistants come to the office at 8.02 in the morning. Her name was Dann, short for Danniella, "You are early today Miss Arletta, good morning, "

"Morning, how are you?" Arletta smiled without her eyes leaving the paper works.

"I'm good. You know someone has been waiting for you, seemingly for quite some time,"

"Who?"

"I don't know."

"Ask him what he wants,"

"He wishes to see you,"

"Let him in then,"

Danny nods. A few minutes later, a guy opens the door, drawing the attention of Arletta. He was tall and muscular. Definitely they type of guy who would make any woman on her knees. Arletta would be one of those women if she was not so stressed today.

"Good day to you, miss," His presses his hands together, "I hope I am not bothering you."

"The name's Arletta, what is your name and what can I do for you?"

"It is actually I who can do something for you. And please don't change your expression. No one has to know what we are talking about."

"What can you do for me then?" Arletta swallows her liquid.

"I know where your sister is,"
