We dashed out of the library and into the growing mist outside. It was so dense that I couldn't see past my outstretched hand.
"Jasper," I called out.
There was no response, only an eerie quiet. Reed and Kento stood on either side of me.
"Let me have the vial of his hair and cologne." I held out my hand, praying that this time the locator spell would work.
"We don't have a map," Kento said.
"I just want to try something." Magic buzzed along every fiber of my being. The dark mages better not have hurt him or I was going to extract blood for every bruise and pain he suffered.
Reed placed the vial in my hand and the glass vibrated coldness through me. I pushed aside the thought that the temperature might be a bad sign.
Then I held up the vial by the string, closing my eyes and imaging Jasper. I pictured his goofy persona and his easy smile. How he made me feel all light and airy inside. How his lips felt on mine.
