Chapter 80: Balancing Dark and Light

I pushed against the magic with my own. I needed more power and the tickling of my dark magic buzzed against my skull.

"Join us," one of the voices said. "You know deep inside you are exactly like us and crave the power. Use it."

"No. Magic isn't evil." I remembered the dark vision my magic had shown me. "Both light and dark are needed."

He laughed. "White magic is weak."

"That's where you're wrong. It took white magic to bind my dark power." And the magic of my men. Oh God, were they okay?

"Then watch helplessly while I deal the death blow to your men and show you once and for all that dark magic is the most powerful."

I gathered up all of my magic, the good, the bad: all of it, and slammed it into the dark mage's chest. His eyes bulged in his head. The others scampered back.

Behind me, a shriek sent shivers down my spine. I spun. Each wraith had one of my men in their bony arms.

Rage and terror tangled in my belly.
