Unholy matrimony

Cael was very convincing. In fact, when it came to convincing Ginevra to marry him, his tongue was not just silver, but pure gold. And he barely had to use it for speaking.

They didn't waste any time on preparations, either. The very next day, Cael and Ginevra stood in the office of the city magistrate.

The magistrate was the only official besides Ginevra herself, with the power to conduct marriages. Usually, people went to the nearest church for that, but in Cael's case, this was out of the question.

The magistrate's office smelled of paper dust and ink. The only window didn't let much light through, but it was compensated with three magic lanterns that glowed weakly. Their mana reservoirs were clearly the lowest quality possible, or just broken.
