"I messed up, Boss. I'm so sorry. I know you trusted me to handle things, but I messed up. I don't know what to do." As he listened to her faltering explanation, Lucien couldn't help but feel a sense of unease creeping over him.
Something was definitely not right, and he had a sinking feeling that things were about to get much, much worse.
Lucien's mind raced as he tried to piece together what could have gone wrong. Olivia was his most trusted employee, after all. But something in her tone told him that this was serious.
Lucien's heart was pounding so hard that he could barely hear Olivia's trembling voice on the other end of the line. He could feel his hands clenching into fists as he tried to process the news she had just delivered.
"Take a deep breath," he instructed, trying his best to sound calm and collected. "Now, tell me what happened."
"I am sorry, I never thought this would happen. It's...it's Mistress Vivienne. She got into an accident!" Olivia's words were filled with panic and regret as she desperately hoped for Lucien's forgiveness.
Lucien felt his mind go blank for a moment as he struggled to comprehend the gravity of the situation. His heart was racing and his head was spinning as he tried to come to grips with what had just been said.
"Boss....please calm down!" Olivia's voice was urgent and serious, snapping him out of his daze.
"How is she now, is she alright?" Lucien asked, doing his best to keep his voice steady despite the waves of fear and worry crashing over him.
"Miss Vivienne is in critical condition and in the ICU at the Nexus Branch of Scion Qing city!" Olivia's words were filled with distress as she delivered the news about Vivienne's condition.
Lucien took a deep breath, his mind already racing with plans and contingencies.
He knew that the treatment at the Nexus Branch of Scion Qing city was top-notch, but he also knew that the main hospital in Novus city had better equipment and personnel to handle Vivienne's case.
"Please, make sure to prepare as soon as the emergency treatment is done. Have staff ready for her transfer to the Nexus General Hospital in Novus city for full treatment!" Lucien's voice was calm on the surface, but his mind was already in turmoil with worry and distress.
"Yes...Boss. I will relay it to the head doctor here." Olivia nodded and acknowledged her orders, understanding the seriousness of the situation.
Lucien hung up the phone, his mind already racing with plans and contingencies.
He knew that he had to act fast if he wanted to save Vivienne's life. He could feel the heavy weight his heart, but he also knew that he had to stay strong for Vivienne's sake.
"Simran, please call your grandfather and tell him that it's urgent. Get ready, we need to reach Scion Qing Metropolis as soon as possible!" Lucien turned to Simran, her worried expression reflecting his own anxiety.
Without wasting a second, Simran ran outside to fetch Butler James, Lucien's trusted butler and confidante.
Within moments, Lucien emerged from his estate looking haggard and aged, his normally impeccable appearance in disarray.
Butler James approached him, his calm demeanor a soothing balm to Lucien's frazzled nerves.
"Please, Master Sterling, don't worry so much. Ms. Vivienne is a strong and courageous woman. She will face whatever difficulty comes her way with grace and determination," Butler James said, hoping to ease Lucien's worries with his reassuring words.
Lucien nodded, grateful for Butler James' comfort, but his mind was consumed with thoughts of Vivienne, his beloved partner. He needed to get to her as soon as possible.
"Thank you, Uncle James. Let's hurry," Lucien said, his voice tight with emotion.
Butler James nodded and helped Lucien into the waiting car. Simran, sensing her grandfather's distress, begged to come along.
Lucien hesitated for a moment, but ultimately relented, allowing Simran to join them on their journey.
With a roar, the car sped away, hurtling towards the airport. They arrived in record time, and within minutes, they were airborne, soaring high above the clouds in Lucien's private jet.
As they hurtled towards Scion Qing city, Lucien's mind raced with worry and fear. What had happened to Vivienne? Would she be okay? The anticipation was almost too much to bear.
Despite the turbulence of the flight, the trio remained quiet, lost in their own thoughts and fears.
Each of them praying that they would arrive in time to save Vivienne from whatever danger she faced.
...
In just half an hour, Lucien, Butler James, and Simran had arrived in Scion Qing city. Olivia, Lucien's trusted right-hand woman, had already sent cars to pick them up, and they made their way quickly to the Nexus Branch hospital.
Lucien's mind raced with worry as they arrived at the hospital. He didn't have time to ask questions or gather information - all he wanted was to see Vivienne's face.
As they approached the ICU, Lucien's heart sank. The emergency treatment was still ongoing, and they were only able to catch a glimpse of Vivienne through the glass panels of the hospital room.
Lucien stood there, his eyes fixed on Vivienne's still form, willing her to pull through.
Beside him, Butler James and Simran waited in tense silence, their own fears and anxieties mirrored on their faces.
"Boss, please punish me for this huge mistake. I wasn't able to predict this attack on Mistress Life, so I am ready for whatever punishment you want to give me," Olivia said, her voice heavy with guilt as she knelt down in a posture of contrition.
Lucien looked at Olivia, feeling a pang of sympathy for her. He knew that she had made a mistake, but he also knew that she was a loyal and capable member of his team.
"I don't think that's needed, Olivia. I won't say that you aren't in the wrong, but I also won't fully blame you for this incident," Lucien said, his voice softening with compassion.
Olivia nodded, her shoulders sagging with relief. She had been consumed with guilt since the incident, and Lucien's forgiveness was a balm to her troubled soul.
Lucien turned his attention back to Vivienne, his heart heavy with worry. He knew that her condition was critical, and that her survival was far from certain.
But he also knew that he would do everything in his power to save her - even if it meant going to the ends of the earth and back again.
