48. "Vivienne's Memory Loss of Lucien"

Vivienne's parents had never been the most loving or supportive of her. Growing up, Vivienne always felt like an afterthought in their lives.

They were always too busy with work or their own social lives to pay attention to their daughter's needs.

As she grew older, Vivienne became more independent and started making a life for herself away from her parents.

She studied hard and landed a job at a prestigious Company and later stabilized herself as a CEO of a Delacare, rising company in trending market, but her parents still seemed uninterested in her achievements.

It wasn't until Vivienne was involved in a serious car accident that her parents realized just how much they had neglected their daughter. When they heard the news, they were both shocked and horrified.

They rushed to the hospital to see their daughter and were relieved to find that she was going to be okay.

However, Vivienne was not quick to forgive them for their neglectful behavior.

She had spent years feeling alone and unsupported, and it was going to take more than a simple apology to make up for that.

"I appreciate your apology, but it's going to take more than words to make up for the way you've treated me all these years," Vivienne said, her tone still icy.

"We understand that, Vivi. We just want to make things right," Ravel said, her voice filled with emotion.

Vivienne sighed, feeling exhausted by the whole situation. She knew that her parents were truly sorry, but she wasn't sure if she could ever fully trust them again.

"Let's just take it one day at a time," Vivienne said, trying to keep her emotions in check. "We can start by spending more time together and trying to rebuild our relationship."

Her parents nodded in agreement, looking hopeful that they could make amends.

For Vivienne, it was going to be a long road to forgiveness, but she was willing to try if it meant healing the rift between her and her parents.

As Vivienne turned towards Lucien Sterling, she noticed his presence for the first time. She didn't recognize him and couldn't remember ever meeting him before. The sight of his frozen smile made her wonder if she had said something wrong.

"Who are you?" Vivienne asked, looking at Lucien with a confused expression.

Lucien's smile returned to his face, but it didn't reach his eyes. "I'm Lucien Sterling. We've known each for some time now," he said, his voice laced with disappointment.

Vivienne tried to recall where she might have met him, but her memory was hazy. "I'm sorry, I don't remember you," she said, feeling embarrassed.

"It's okay," Lucien said, trying to hide his disappointment. "We didn't spend much time together."

Vivienne sensed that there was more to her relationship with Lucien than he was revealing. She wondered why he appeared disappointed that she didn't recall him.

"Did we know each other well?" Vivienne inquired, seeking answers.

Lucien hesitated before responding. "We used to spend a lot of time together at my family's estate," he said, his voice trailing off.

Vivienne felt a jolt of confusion. She couldn't recall ever visiting the Starling mansion or spending time with Lucien. It was a complete blank to her.

"I'm sorry, but I truly don't remember any of that," she said, feeling frustrated with her lack of memory, though she remembered everything else. When she attempted to remember his face, her memory was blank.

Lucien's expression softened. "It's alright, Vivienne. I comprehend. You've been through a lot."

Vivienne nodded, appreciative of his empathy. She knew that she had a lot to reconstruct about her past, and it would take time. At present, she was grateful to be alive and surrounded by people who cared about her.

Simran stepped forward, hopeful. "Mistress, do you remember me?" she asked with expectant eyes.

Vivienne tried to recall Simran's face but was suddenly overcome with a slight headache. "I...ugh...," she groaned.

Concerned, Simran and the others looked at Vivienne with worry.

"I'm okay...I just remembered your name, Simran. I'm sorry, that's all I can remember for now," Vivienne explained, looking at their worried faces.

Doctor Noel observed this and concluded that Vivienne might need a gradual approach to help her remember her past, so as not to cause headaches.

The treatment had been successful, and the blood clot would slowly unclog itself. It would take time for the nerves to heal and nourish in order for proper blood flow to resume.

"Don't worry, Master Sterling. Just give her time, and she will eventually remember her memories completely," assured Doctor Noel, calming Lucien down a little.

"Everyone, please make sure to keep Vivienne company from time to time to prevent her from getting bored in the hospital," Lucien requested, nodding at Simran to indicate that she should take care of Vivienne.

After Lucien left for his mansion in Belgravia, everyone else departed, except for Vivienne's parents, who stayed with her along with Simran.

"Master Sterling, I received news that Miss Olivia Windsor has taken a lead and is more likely to uncover the truth behind this incident," Butler informed Lucien as he drove the luxury sports car.

"Mmnm!" Lucien merely hummed, not paying attention to the report he had been eagerly waiting for yesterday.

"Master, please don't worry, as I am sure that Miss Vivienne will recover her memories with your help," Butler James attempted to console Lucien, noticing that he wasn't even listening to the report.

Lucien sat in silence, staring blankly out the car window as the world rushed by. The weight of everything that had happened over the past few days was finally starting to catch up to him. He couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that gnawed at him from within. If only he had been there to protect Vivienne, none of this would have happened.

As they pulled up to the grand gates of his estate, Lucien let out a deep sigh. He knew he had to push those thoughts aside for now and focus on helping Vivienne recover her memories. With Olivia on the case, he was hopeful they would get to the bottom of things soon.

As he stepped out of the car, Butler James offered him a small smile. "Shall I have dinner prepared, sir?" he asked.

Lucien nodded, grateful for the distraction. "Yes, please. And make sure Vivienne's favorite dish is included."

Butler James gave him a reassuring nod before disappearing into the house. Lucien made his way up to his room, his mind racing with thoughts of Vivienne and what lay ahead. He had to be strong for her, no matter what.
