Nadia wakes up naturally, the moonlight slipping in through the cracks in the blinds. However, she immediately becomes aware of the coldness of the bed and that Keiko isn’t beside her. The first few times this happened, she was alarmed. Especially considering it started only days after the execution. However, two months later, it’s become their new normal and Nadia has adjusted.
She sits up in the bed and reaches for her phone on the table at her bedside. As though on cue, it begins to ring; Keiko’s face popping up on the screen. Nadia can’t help but smile at her timing.
“Good evening, Love. Perfect timing once again. I just woke up and picked up my phone.”
“Are you still surprised by this? You should know how well I know you by now, Honey.”
“True, you probably know me better than myself at this point. You’re almost in my head.”
