Overnight and in the morning

"So? Will you answer my question or will you keep staring nowhere for minutes?" Lynn again broke the silence.

"Uh... If you were someone else... And not the Lynn I know... You mean... If you were good?..."

Lynn nods at his question. He again waited patiently for Dexter to answer. In the end, Dexter just smiled warmly at Lynn while answering: "I guess... I'd like you more as a good person rather than a bad one. You're way cuter when you're acting all good."

Lynn's eyes widened. Him? Cute? All acting? He was pretty sure that he wasn't acting when he showed that he cares. He remained speechless for some moments.

All he said was: "Is that so?"

Dexter nodded and again showed a smile. "Anyways, why did you ask? What do you want to point out with that question?"

"It doesn't matter. How do you feel?"

" I'm fine now. I feel completely good. I'm only a bit tired, just so you know."

"Do you remember what happened last night though?"

Dexter shook his head while his smile slowly faded. "Nope. Nothing. Only if you'd tell me, but I think I know what we did."

Some hours had passed and Dexter was still at Lynn's house. Lynn had to leave for a meeting with Louis and some of the other members, so he went to Dexter.

"So you're going to the city... Take me too and drop me off at the café, will you?" Dexter said while getting up.

"Are you sure? Do you feel any better? Don't go if you don't feel good." he answered.

"No, no, I feel good now. I've relaxed a bit and now I'm fine, I swear. If it's such a big problem for you to take me there..."

"No, it's not about that! I just don't want to drive you there and you feel unwell. I'll drive you there if you want me to."

Dexter raised his eyebrows. He was a bit taken aback by him. "All right. So, will you take me with you?"

Lynn got out his phone and looked at the clock. It was nine and a half. Lynn looked back at Dexter and started to approach him.

He took his chin in his hand and made him fight his eyes. Dexter's eyes started to flicker as he looked a bit shocked.

"I'll drive you there... Only if you kiss me."

"Huh?!" he screamed and he didn't even realize that he said it louder than in his head.

"Mhm. If you don't do it, then I won't drive you there and I'll leave you here." he said again.

"Are you fucking serious?! What..." he sighed and stopped screaming. He knew that Lynn meant what he said so he didn't have any other choice.

Dexter leaned in and pressed his lips against Lynn's. He did want it to be only a short kiss, but he couldn't hold it in.

Lynn noticed how devoted Dexter was to the kiss, so he pulled back and grinned. "You little pervert."

Dexter's eyes widened again as he raised his eyebrow. He wasn't thinking of himself as a pervert, but maybe Lynn was right. But what was that just now? Why did he want Dexter to kiss him? I guess that doesn't matter now, he just wanted to be in the city.

"Now, let's go." Lynn nudged Dexter and started walking towards the front door.

He followed him. Lynn took his jacket and his keys and then he unlocked the front door. Dexter was just staring at him as he did all of this.

Lynn wanted to leave, but he noticed Dexter staring at him. "Are you coming or not?"

Dexter looked like he was staring nowhere again, but he woke up as soon as he heard Lynn's voice. "Oh, yeah, sorry. I'm coming now. Wait a bit please."

Lynn tilted his head and crossed his arms over his chest as he rolled his eyes and looked after Dexter. He was in a hurry to get ready, and when he was done, he left too and waited for Lynn next to his car while he locked the door.

"What were you so focused on earlier? It seemed like you were in another world."

"I'm sorry about that. It happens often. I'll try not to do it again." he said, looking a bit sad about it.

They got up in the car, both in the front seat and Lynn started to drive to the city.

Despite everything that happened between them, both overnight and in the morning, while they were on the highway and through the streets of the city, practically the whole way, they no longer shared a word.

It was a deep and scary silence, and the only sounds that were in the background were the sound of the other cars and the silent music from the radio in Lynn's car.

Lynn arrived at the café and he dropped Dexter off. They again didn't share a word, only a goodbye and that was it. Lynn drove off and Dexter entered the café. It was such a weird thing that they didn't even talk to each other, but as they were at Lynn's house they talked more than usual, and Dexter appreciated that.

Dexter was still a bit tired, but at least he didn't feel dizzy. He entered the café and saw Connor at the counter with another girl... A girl that Dexter thought about that Connor likes her.

He went to them and waved while saying: "Good morning! Sorry for keeping you in such confusion, but I'm feeling good now."

Connor raised his head, not knowing who was talking with them, but as he saw Dexter his face got brighter. "Dexter!" he screamed and then went to the other side of the counter to hug him.

"Hehe, I'm good. Don't worry. I'm only a bit tired, that's all."

"You should've stayed home if you're tired. You know the boss is an understanding person and he won't have a problem."

"No, there's no use to stay home and to lose a day like this when I'm feeling good. It's very nice outside, it's sunny and warm, so I guess you'll be busy with clients, right? Don't you need your best friend to help you out here?"

Connor looked back at the girl for a second and then he said: "Of course, Dexy. I need you here to help me."

He put his arm on Dexter's shoulders as he guided him to the other side of the counter.

Dexter whispered: "Isn't that the girl you like? How did the boss know that you like her? She replaced me to work with you?"

Connor kicked Dexter's leg and answered "Shut the fuck up! I don't like her! Say that again and I'll burn you with hot coffee."

Dexter chuckled as he and the girl went back to their boss and to the changing room to switch places.

Dexter came back in the work uniform and he started to help Connor out. At their café came a lot of people on such a warm and sunny day of spring. The café was full of clients and Connor and Dexter tried to be just as amusing and kind as they were with all their clients. Truthfully, Connor brightened up Dexter's day, as he always did.
